I somehow managed to have two religions in the same holy city, but I'm guessing it had something to do with it being Rome and having wiped out Rome from the game

I won my last game by letting Sumeria survive on my continent.

Russia was falling fast (they had a lot of land), but when I wasn't paying attn, they had converted every civ to their religion...except Sumeria...and they had a buttload of religious units heading for Sumeria. Weird way to win a game.

Hate Gilgamesh and Barbarossa. Always declaring war on me and if they are both on the map, they always work together against me.... And then everyone is pissed when I takeover one of their cities. Those jerkwads started this war, why can't I end it?

You're going to hurt them more without incurring diplomatic penalties if you just destroy all their units and pillage all their districts

But taking their already developed cities is just faster than making my own, specially when there isn't any room left in that area.

They kinda do, when they want to trade luxury resources, if they like you, they give you a better deal.

for the most part, I don't care if I'm going for domination for obvious reasons, but try asking for a luxury resource you don't have without having to give away your firstborn child if they hate you

Admittedly, I dont play on top difficulty, but never felt really penalised by it myself. They seemed to offer crappy deals regardless.

Goody huts can give you settlers, but only at the lowest difficulties. I can't recall one ever just straight-up founding a city for you, unless I'm reading that wrong.

I play on prince difficulty and it is terrible when they hate you cause they think you are a warmonger, even though I never once started a war. I just finished them.

I normally play on 4/5/6 difficulty whatever they are called, depending on the civ im using (germans = 6, sumeria = 4 for instance) so that may explain it. I don't remember ever getting a settler even.

looks like they are coded to have settlers but that is not yet implemented (or may not be at all) but can't provide cities. At least if that info is right and I am understanding it right.

it's now easier to get on their good side, from what I've experienced

sending trade routes their way or trading with them helps

I always just play Venice, I'm no civ expert and rarely play but I think it's almost a crutch

You make MAD money and just focus on being a tall civ. You can just buy a fucking army when someone declares war. And towards the end you just buy yourself a Diplomatic Victory

If I play other civs I eventually lose on reasonable difficulties like Prince

that. After I play as a civ I typically do a lot of research on them and at least a bit on the leaders. And that sometimes leads me to changing how I play those civs for either accuracy or irony.
