I will be participating in the very first run, a Pokemon Red randomizer race, this wednesday afternoon (2 PM EDT), so come watch!

We're doing a marathon that's just going to be randomizers. Randomizers take a classic game and rearrange everything - usually this means, depending on the game, that item and enemy locations will be rearranged, player and enemy stats and abilities will be changed, levels will be rearranged or reordered, etc. In the case of Pokemon, this means that any Pokemon can appear anywhere in the game and learn random moves, so every game is a completely different challenge. I love these, since instead of learning a very specific route, you have to be ready for anything the game could even possibly throw at you, and that's a lot of fun.

We've been trying to get a Zelda randomizer into GDQ for a couple of years now, and I'm hoping that we'll be able to actually pull it off someday soon since I think they'd be a hit. So I want to signal boost this marathon as best I can, especially since the first run is so often missed.

This reminded me that there have been some significant changes to the Doom randomizer (called OBLIGE) since I checked it out years ago. I'd love to try speedrunning that now.

it was a pretty hormonal choice to wander around trying to catch it forever, but on the other hand, that Tauros could have sucked badly if Celadon City didn't magically fix everything
