To be fair, I think it has less to do with racism and more to do with the prison system is absolutely horrible in every way. I'm fairly certain that if it had been a white guy who had been burned to death by scalding 180F degree water as he screamed for mercy and the prison guards laughed at him, the guards involved still wouldn't have been charged.

I wasn't able to be there on account of being out of town, but my representative had a town hall yesterday. I've been told it was filled with him trying to mislead and lie to the people w.r.t the economic impacts of Obamacare, him literally telling the crowd they "don't know how to listen", and his promise to repeal Obamacare met with a "Vote him out" chant.

The man is a f***ing piece of s***, and I don't think I've ever been more proud of the area I live in than now. The only problem is that he ran functionally unopposed last year (Green and Libertarian candidates, no Democrats), but the rumor mill says Rawlings might run against him in 2018. Which would be nice.
