Ehhhh... It's Ocarina but with more fluff, filler, tryhardness, and no charm. But it has the best guide character in the series.

I needed fairies to beat half of OoT's bosses.

I used a single fairy in all of TP: during the final boss. Because it was long as hell.

Also the secret bonus dungeon doesn't count.

It's not a focus, but it's not a trivial aspect, or at least wasn't.

I just want to feel like I'm making meaningful decisions. I want to be held accountable for my play, so that if I slack off I could imagine dying.

It was even a big part of why FFXV is so lackluster at the end of the day for me. It just didn't matter how I played because there was never any punishment for not really understanding the system. Doing the Costlemark dungeon where items weren't allowed blew my mind because now...I could lose. And those fights were far more engaging and activated my senses in a way the rest of the game really didn't.

Doesn't mean the rest of the game had to push me to my limits. I am a very skilled player so I don't expect games to be "hard enough" for me. All I ask is the game to prod me in my sleep and say "hey don't be so dumb" now and then.

I guess. If you asked me to list examples in OoT or TP where I felt challenged, I don't think I could name you one. I'm sure I died on multiple occasions, but if you asked me which I thought was harder, I'd probably just shrug.

I could list examples in Majora though, but mostly as a result of the clock.

There are genres where I look for and appreciate challenges and difficulty, but RPGs (which you could include Zelda in if you want) aren't among them, partly because they're already so long most of the time anyway and death could mean losing significant progress. Dying is an inconvenience and an annoyance there.

Is there something specific you dislike about them?

I just want to see exceptional skill at video games. zelda is more how to break the bounds of the game. I appreciate a good break as much as anyone but zelda becomes so focused on that and it's hard to enjoy it.

They're too glitchy for me to be interested. I prefer runs where people are just really good at playing the game as intended

I think it was mentioned before but there is a glitchless category for OoT speedruns which bans most glitches like wrong warping across the word. You might like that category more.
