user reviews for a huge game like this in the first number of days of release just screams unreliable either way that they lean, I mean I have been playing since launch essentially nonstop (hey I'm on holidays) but I can't fathom giving it any "rating" with so much more to do

I'm happy Vlado pointed out the lying of critics so I could read great reviews like this:

"Zelda really ought to move faster, especially on his snowboard. It's too slow and boring. Nintendo is wasting my time by making me wait for their slow animations to complete. Do they think I have all day? I don't, and I'm not about to waste what little free time I have on watching this slow character plod about in a way that only serves to artificially extend the games length.

It's also really hard to be immersed in the Zelda universe when he can climb up completely flat surfaces by grabbing non-existent hand holds. It's gotten so bad I actually have to pretend to grab the rougher bricks and act as if I will fall if I grab the flat surfaces. I shouldn't have to go to this much effort to make the game work in a realistic way.

Overall, great game ruined by some easily fixable problems. I hope you're listening, Nintendo. 0/10"

I, too, am upset that Link moves realistically, he needs to move more unrealistically. I also am upset that he climbs unrealistically, he needs to climb more realistically.

User reviews are always more accurate than critic reviews. If you want an honest opinion, you need to get it from someone not being paid to write that opinion.

Granted Vlado's anti-Nintendo gimmick is s*** and I say this as someone who is anti-Nintendo myself. If he hasn't actually played the game then he can't really comment on it.

No, you didn't. "Waaaah, indies are innocent" is a pretty different tune from what you are saying now. Corrupt indies deserve to burn as much as corrupt AAA companies.

I think there's hype right now because it's a very unusual entry in a series that is often considered recycled. Okami only has a 90 (93 on PS2 even though PS3 is better) and that's the standard I'm gonna hold it to as I continue playing.

I've been playing BotW for the past few hours and it is amazing. You can see that Nintendo really went all out with this one. While there are minor flaws no doubt it is greatly overshadowed by how great everything else is. So far I'm liking the characters and story more than Skyward Sword which IMO was the best in that department to date.

The Switch also makes it very convenient to play while travelling which is a huge plus for me since I don't get too much time to play on TV at home due to work. So I can't wait to play the likes of Xenoblade 2 and Mario Odyssey on it in the future.

Anyone on the fence about buying a Switch and Zelda should take the leap or at least consider buying it in the future. Don't let a well known Nintendo hater on the board change your mind.
