Eh, you can do whatever you want, but I'm probably not alone in this topic saying I have NFL fatigue. They push it so hard to be a 365 day a year thing; guys playing fucking catch is a headline now. It doesn't help being in Denver, where all the other sports teams are irrelevant, so the media outlets here love covering the Broncos as often as they can. Of course, even if all this offseason bullshit didn't happen, I still would probably get tired of the NFL just from watching games alone.

I wish I liked other sports as much as I like football. I get so bored on weekends during the offseason because I don't really follow anything. I sorta follow college basketball but not super intense. At least UVA won today though.

I'm sorta watching a Cards game today. Matt Adams is really thin now. It looks weird.

What can you nickname him now that Fat Adams doesn't make any sense?


The Rockies are playing today but I have no idea how to watch them... I don't even know if they put these games on TV. Maybe that's only a thing in places where they care like St. Louis

I stopped watching them on syndication a long time ago since there started to be so many weak seasons that it was hard to catch a classic episode. Though it always felt like uncovering some sort of treasure when you finally did see a classic on the air

I bootleg all my sports with chromecast. If you don't have a chromecast get one seriously because it's life changing. Even my tech stupid parents love them. I got them one as a gift and after they learned how to use it they bought another one.

So the Blues have basically given up I take it?

It's weird because they're currently in a playoff spot. Not sure why you would give up one of your best players when you're currently in the playoffs and need to keep winning to get in.

I get that he probably would have walked away and the Blues would get nothing for him, but still.

Idk anything about hockey, like how realistic the Blues' playoff chances are, but I think way more teams, in any sport, should be sellers if they probably won't make the playoffs. Let's say if your chances are under 50% or so, sell your soon-to-be free agents. I dunno if that is the case for the Blues, or if hockey has something like the NFL franchise tag. I'm just saying more teams should be willing to get some value back.

I've always thought it's crazy how teams can sell so freely in baseball. It seems like the most active trade deadline of the four sports, generally. Why are some teams so willing to give up a bunch of prospects for a guy that they'll probably have for two months?

not necessarily. Shattenkirk was never gonna re-sign, so better to get something for him now rather than later

the west is pretty weak, so giving up Shattenkirk isn't a crushing blow, either

It's because prospects are generally overvalued by fans in MLB. They have a much lower hit rate than the best prospects in the other sports.

Vikings aren't taking AP's contract option (thank God). They could still work out a new deal, but I doubt that will happen. So on March 9 he'll be a UFA.

I bet you $100 that he goes to GB, Seattle, or NE for like 3 mil and has his best season in years.

Maybe so but (applying baseball thinking to other sports) isn't it better to hang onto your best guys if the goal is to win the Stanley Cup? Sure they could still make the playoffs but just making it in stopped being the goal for the Blues a long time ago.

At first I thought it couldn't be worse than last year, but maybe they can break the franchise loss record 2 years in a row. And I still don't get why they didn't trade dozier

PECOTA is just for fun and it was created by Always Incorrect Genius Nate Silver so who cares but they have the Twins at 80-82 and second place in the Central + just 5 games out of the second wild card. I don't know enough about their roster to say if I think they'll be any good but that's better than the Cardinals who I think will be decent but not great.

yes, but I think this is a reaction to what happened with Backes/Brower last year. they kept them, didn't go all the way, and lost them for nothing. methinks they're looking to trade this dude away to re-load

the bright side is that having a pick in the late 20s is not a bad thing this year. the top end is pretty weak (great year to tank, Red Wings), so having more picks in the middle is gonna do you well. plus, the Blues already have a solid #1 D-man in Colton Parayko, and one of the best pure goal scorers in the league

I don't know who Nate Silver is, which is why I said what I said. Also, his algorithm would be posted online on a website so, again, that doesn't change what I said. Shit needs to be taken down because the algorithm is garbage and the guy behind it is a dumbass.
