Watched the keion movie starring Yui and Azusa and featuring a bunch of nobody former main characters in ancillary supporting roles. Pretty alright I guess.

oh yes higurashi no naku koro ni kai VN beated

Each episode in Kai was awesome and I liked each more than the last. I was pretty surprised at how good 8 was. The minigame was awesome what are you people talking about. Was a much better way of revealing flashbacks than just showing them linearly would have been. Everyone was just great in 8 also. Everyone had multiple badass scenes with the best being Akasaka finally no selling using logic and listening to a little girl telling him his wife is going to die and then showing up to take on like ten dudes at once without even breaking a sweat. Favorite scene in the series is the end of 7 though with Takano shooting everyone in the face as they resolve to literally never give up. WHILE GETTING SHOT IN THE FACE

finished the first season of the Hayate anime yesterday

it started off fine, although there was random filler injected even in the early part

...and then they got to the second half, which had maybe 2 or 3 episodes' worth of non-filler, with the filler being some of the most painfully unenjoyable stuff I've ever watched, including two atrocious filler characters

thank goodness I never have to watch that mess again

season 3 is going to be entirely original content, actually

the difference is that the original mangaka is writing it instead of the anime studio

*Small spoilers*



RideBack is finally an example of the main character being "normal." What I wouldn't give to see more shows without "hidden superpowers," or "the hero's journey." Rin's abilities come FROM her bike, not herself. I'm glad the show is structured that way. She's vulnerable but determined. It's stayed that way for half the show anyway.

It helps that the show has a serious tone. I've been on fire. Each show since Fruits Basket has been a keeper.

Watched that K-On! movie. Pretty awesome. Though the end we had kinda already seen in the series.

At first I thought they were going to be doing random characters each week (like Sengoku Collection) but it's actually more like they're building up a canon around the characters they introduced first

K-ON! movie was actually quite good. I've always liked K-ON! when it's good, but in the actual series that was a relatively low proportion of the time. The movie's at least as good as the best of the series was, pretty much all the way through. Definitely worth watching for all those who liked the series at least a little.

I saw the K-on movie too and really liked it. I thought the start was a little slow, even by K-on standards, still entertaining just not really special. But from the airport on it was amazing. SKY HIGH

I also finished AKB0048. It finished better than I expected but some of the early episodes were pretty bad. I know it's getting another season in 2013, I'm not sure if I'll pick it up or not.
