I will unfortunately be off to work in an hour and if we aren't busy I'll be able to keep an eye on the match but if we are busy then que sera. I respect this Italian team a lot more than some of the previous incantations and despite the inevitable loss of Pirlo in a few years I can still see them becoming a dominant force over the next four.

This German side, well, the time is now. If this German side can't beat this Italian side tonight, then they just aren't ever going to get the job done and they should resign themselves to being choke artists. It's all there for ze Germans to prove themselves. They can get through Italy tonight, then through Spain on Sunday and they'll have gotten the monkeys off their back. They have a brilliant manager and all the talent to do that, it's just down to them to perform. Hope they do so because even though I respect this Italy side I don't want to see Swift happy LOL SUCK IT SWIFT.

This match is proving one of two things.

1) England were demonstrably NOT outclassed by Italy. The ball that Italy tried unsuccessfully 100 times against England worked first time against Germany for Balotelli's goal.

OR

2) Germany aren't all they're up they're cracked up to be.

.......

Or secret option 3) Both.

I'm inclined to go with option 1 - Hodgson played defensively and England did a damn good job of it. So all the mongs who thought Italy attacking the most meant they were "the better team" over the 120 minutes can suck it.

I hope Italy wins it all. They've been one of if not the only team who has been playing entertaining football to wach.

Germany's cautious, cerebral and playing with the clock mentaility might win them titles, but anyone watching is fed up to hell at this point.

This is the first tournament, sans a few games in 2006, where I've seen Italy constantly being an offensive team. Just wait until Giuseppe Rossi is healthy in 2014. This Italian side has grown well together. It's not the most talented on paper, but unlike other countries most of it's stars play with or against each other in the same league. Chemistry is so vital (lol england)
