Dave has previously openly expressed his discomfort at the prospect of meeting his bro again, who he's always had a crushing inferiority complex towards.

Literally the first thing that happens when they meet is Dirk having Terezi all over him, then proceeding to be a badass hero off to save his friends. I mean look at Dave's face. Poor guy.

Rose mentioned that in the Furthest Ring, the way time and space shifts makes it so even if you take the "same" path it can take you a different amount of time (or...space) to get there. And they know for sure that the path they're on will get them there.

Dirk just kind of flew off into the distance without even caring, but if he gets anywhere at all in any reasonable space of time I'm going to assume it's because of Roxy's Void powers at work.

If that were true the meteor and its crew wouldn't even stay together. It's too late now of course, but it everyone followed Dirk closely they should end up in the same place.

But it seems too convenient that Dirk is apparently going to find his way back to Derse either way. I hope there's more to it than that. If there isn't then the Furthest Ring isn't what it's cracked up to be.

It's not like we haven't seen that happen before. Vriska woke John up at the beginning of Act 5 Act 2, preventing him from reuniting with Dad.
