Well, looks like Jagr really only cares about money. I never thought he would choose the Stars out all of teams but I highly doubt any other team offered him that much money. Dallas can afford it though and they've already made a few good moves this off-season.

The Phoenix Coyotes say that forward Brett MacLean suffered a cardiac emergency on Monday night in Owen Sound, Ontario.

"Brett was playing hockey last night when he suffered a medical emergency," said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney in a statement. "Brett received CPR on site and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance where he was treated. He was then transported via an air ambulance to Knight University Hospital in London, Ontario where he was admitted to the cardiac ICU.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Brett and his family," Maloney continued. "We request that everyone please respect their privacy at this time. We will provide an update on Brett's status when information is available."

The 23-year-old spent the majority of last season in the American Hockey League with the Portland Pirates, where he had 25 goals and 23 assists in 63 games.

He has appeared in 18 NHL games with Winnipeg and Phoenix, where he compiled two goals and three assists. He was selected by the Coyotes in the second round of the 2007 Draft.

I'll stick with my original predictions; Parise re-signs with the Devils and Suter goes to Minny.

I wonder where Semin is going to sign. I wouldn't mind Anaheim taking a shot at him for $4-5 milllion per on a one or two-year deal. I haven't really heard which teams are interested in him - maybe he's heading to the KHL.

Nobody expects a player to play for the duration of his 10+ year contract. You sign that deal to lock him in during his prime for a lower cap hit, and when he starts to decline, you trade him to a team that needs help reaching the floor. That new team won't have to pay much in terms of salary because the contracts are front-loaded.

I don't know why Suter went to the Wild, though. If the Sharks, Red Wings and Preds all offered similar deals (and they reportedly did), those are all more attractive places than Minnesota. I guess he's really good friends with Parise!

Also, the Avs are still the 2nd best team in the NW division, Suter/Parise be damned. The Wild will be more formidable in a year or two, but they're still a team that bleeds possession with a top-heavy roster.

also also, sucks to be a flames fan
