And lol at you guys fooling yourselves info thinking it wasn't Serperior. The clue was "It has less limbs than it's pre-evolutions"- that's with an "s" so that eliminates Armaldo who has less limbs than its one prevo and Golem who has less limbs than Graveler but more than Geodude.

Snivy, Dewott, and Emboar would be the best, and I even hope they change or implement a new Pokemon Trainer in SSB4 with that line up.

It's pretty ugly. It started off so promising, but then turned bleh. The color scheme in particular is awful. Maybe it was actually decent in battle I would've been swayed, like I was with Emboar, but nope. It's just all around the worst.

276. (Bruno's) Onix


Sorry snake lovers, Brock's signature Pokemon can't get much more credit than this. It's design is really simple and boring, just a bunch of rocks slapped together to form a snake, whoopie. I don't really recall any character development in any of Brock's Pokemon, sans Vulpix, so I can't even give it much credit for anime awesomeness (only real memorable time was it losing to an attack it's immune to, lol anime logic). In the anime, he even evolves off screen (which I guess implies his siblings traded it away while he was gone, little bastards).

In fact if anything Onix deserves less credit for being Brock's because in HG/SS he's among the only gym leaders rematch (well, lol Claire she makes even less sense, really...) that has an NFE in his team. In fact, game Brock only ever evolved Onix in Round 2 of Pokemon Stadium 2 As far as battle usefulness, he was only fully evolved for the one generation that was dominated by Parasect and psychic types, so of course it was going to be UU. I will admit that in Pokemon Yellow, Onix was a legitimate threat. IIRC, Mankey was really the only Pokemon that was available at the time that you could effectively use against it without some hardcore powerleveling or a ton of potions (I do recall beating it once with just Quick Attack Pikachu, but I think it was level 16 by then). Even in R/B if you choose Charmander it's special defense was so low that Ember did well enough against it.

It also annoyed me that Bruno literally always had at least one Onix in his team when even in R/B he neglected Poliwrath and Primeape and had even more available options in future generations (well except Stadium 2 where his teams just threw his theme out the window anyway. Seriously, Granbull, Blastoise, Clefable, Muk, wtf). In fact the only time he had a pure fighting team was in the HG/SS rematch (The Hitmon Trio, Lucario, Hariyama, Machamp). It's little details, but it bugs me when gym leaders/E4 advertise themselves as a certain type and use others when there are available options (Except Dragons since Gyarazard gets screwed on typing anyway). Anyway, it seems that Onix has gotten away from me. Mediocre Pokemon, needed an evolution badly in Gen 2, got it and still kind of sucks, but more on that later.

And we go from a Pokemon that gets a long ass rant to one that there's not much I can say about. Vespiquen design is fine enough I guess, though I'm not a fan of the honeycomb dress. Beedrill is the superior bee Pokemon IMO (wasp, bee, whatever). I remember meeting some annoyance in getting a female Combee (yay 12.5%) but I guess as far as lore goes, it makes perfect sense, so I can let that slide. Of all the Bug type pokemon that are out there, Bugsy chose it for his HG/SS rematches, so maybe he's seeing something that I'm not, but it never gave me any trouble. It's NU tier, which isn't exactly uncommon for bugs (I think there's three in OU, Forretress, Volcarona, Scizor), but I guess it could be interesting to see how it fairs in comparison to all the other flying bugs that just get rockslide OHKOed.

Yay making the cotton pokemon a black version exclusive. I dunno, it's kinda cute, but there's a ton of cute fluffy pokemon, a grass one isn't getting much higher than this. It's made no anime appearances of note. I guess with prankster it could be fun with seeding, toxic, subing, etc. but I can't say I ever see myself using it.

Oh, Shuckle, If this isn't the perfect example of a Pokemon that needs an evolution I don't know what is. If I understand things properly, Shuckle is hypothetically capable of doing the most damage out of any Pokemon out there via it having the highest defense in the game, as well as access to Power Trick and Rollout, which is kind of cool but incredibly impractical in use. Despite this, it's in the NU tier. It also had a cool ability in Gen 2 that changed berries into juice and juice into rare candy, but it was removed in later generations. I'm not a fan of it's design, the thing looks like if you squeezed a red colored mustard pack too hard and it exploded out random holes caused by the pressure. It might be cool if it got some kind of evolution so that it could actually get some use, but who knows.

272.Clefable


A lot of stone evolutions are a lot worse off than just leaving them alone, at least design-wise. I'm sick of seeing all the stupid Gengar/Clefable theories all over the internet too. Clefairy isn't too bad, but Fable just looks like they stretched it out and slaped some non-functioning wings on it's back. Maybe it's just me but Clefable looks like a tired Peanuts character for some reason. It's pretty bad in battle too. It's in RU and is basically a worse Blissey. It's always kind of sad when you see a 3 step evolution family that is still not terribly useful. It's got no room to improve (unless of course they jump the shark and implement 4 step families). It'll almost certainly never improve unless all the Pokemon get rehauled in Gen 6 or it gets an absolutely ridiculous ability in future generations.

Clefable's always been interesting battle-wise. Its extremely varied movepool made it useful at times throughout the years, and before Magic Guard got more widespread, it had it's own little niche ability. Clefable's never really been that bad, it's just outclassed too easily.

Its animations in the 3D games are great, though.

Giratina>Dialga>Palkia easily, though all three kind of suck. I don't get Nintendo's passion with making dragon types that don't look like dragons. Maybe I don't know mythology well enough, but the DP and BW trios just don't look like dragons to me. Regardless I also kind of thought that Palkia and Dialga's types or lore should be switched. It makes more sense to me that water and time both flow, I guess space is expanding, but water doesn't expand. I'm probably just being picky here. Dialga's design is a little better than Palkia's overall. I like it's coloration better and it's neck isn't as stupid looking. He also didn't piss me off in Brawl. Avoiding his beams and dealing with less ground isn't nearly as bad as the controls flipping.

I don't get how this thing is fighting type. I guess it beats crap with it's tail or something, but it's arms are so tiny that and it seems so bottom heavy that I don't know how it keeps it's balance. Of course, they had to give it Spore which with this thing's stats is basically an express train to OU, all aboard the pain-in-the-ass express. I feel bad for Parasect since it's definitely the better of the fungus Pokemon and this thing stole it's best asset (well, and Smeargle... and Amoongus). I haven't done much on Shoddy Battle since HG/SS but I remember every other team seemed to have this thing, but there are so many cooler looking Pokemon that it pissed me off.

It also just got access to its Dream World ability, Technician, which I think makes it even better. Mach Punch and Bullet Seed will certainly hurt with it, at least.

Screw the Pokemon Fan Club President, Rapidash is pretty lame for a first gen pokemon. In a game with Charizard, Arcanine, and Ninetales, come on, who's using this? ****ing Bronies probably. I'm not a big horse fan, so it's design doesn't really appeal to me. It would probably boost up a few spaces if it's shiny sprite was similar to Ponyta's but they dropped the ball big time. Ponyta has a top 10, maybe even top 5 shiny sprite, and Rapidash is damn near the bottom...




It always bugged me that it loses it's flames in the first movie. Kind of picky and funny, but come on, get it right.



Battlewise, fire is absolute crap now, but it's still close to the bottom of the fire totem pole. It's got the battle advantage over Flareon at least, because lol Flareon.
