If you're at all interested in the plehtora of recent DC animated features over the last few years, this is not one to miss. Best one so far, even better than Under the Red Hood.
It's funny how neither company can get it completely right.
DC makes great animated straight to DVD movies, but blows at live action (baring Batman of course) Marvel makes amazing live action blockbusters, but fairly meh DVD animated movies.
It's not actually out yet, but I already bought it off Amazon so I figured what the hell. I had friends in town that were interested in seeing it that wouldn't be back for a while after it was released.
Expected it when I saw what story it was based on. Good to hear I guessed right about it!
I honestly went in with some pretty low expectations, unsure about turning a one issue story into a movie and the odd art style (seriously, they go out of their way to make Superman/Batman: Doomsday look like s*** to emulate Michael Turner, but don't even attempt to emulate Doug Mahnke?), but the story was translated excellently, the dialogue and voice acting was top notch, the fights were excellent and the animation quality was the best they've ever had. It's an easy 5/5.
as someone who just finished watching it, I can fully endorse this topic. at the risk of letting recency bias cloud my judgment, I will have to say it's probably my favorite DC Animated Film as of right now.

I believe there's meaning. No, I believe there's nothing. http://i.imgur.com/RYunc.png
....that's quite surprising. man, i wish they'd give their animated films a chance at the box office. surely it's a better option than the amount of money they'll lose with green lantern 2.

"Maybe it's a tentacle, molesting the planet itself. - Aschen Brodel.
Dude, that movie was pretty damn awesome. I checked the wiki page on the source material and it was just a single issue? I figured it'd be a whole story arc...
Great news: checking the wiki page for the movie and i learned that next up for the DCAU is "The Dark Knight Returns". Oh man.
It was an amazing issue, written by one of the best writers in the industry.
Dark Knight Returns is going to be 2 movies. After that (or in between?) is the Flashpoint movie.
The amazing thing is that a lot of people think it sucks because they say Superman defeats his own point by teaching the Elite a lesson. Goes to show how many people fail at understanding basic philosophical tenets!
