Eric Young had a match this week that was better than the majority of the matches on Raw. Mostly because WWE is afraid to do matches that aren't squashes these days for whatever reason.

Also because Eric Young also decided that he could use offense against women without breaking them, but that's besides the point.

Eric Young is just so stale for me these days. Not to mention having a male champ of a female tag division is disgraceful, especially considering how promising the Knockouts were for years.

This reminds me how much I miss heel Young in 2009 and the World Elite. One of the many victims of the Hogan regime taking over.

I actually think Eric Young's goofball character is fine, to be honest. The problem is he needs a straight man, not someone who tries to out-idiot him in ODB (or Orlando Jordan). Like I think Eric Young's segment with Sting like 2 months ago was actually funny.

ALso, ive made my feelings on TNA clear lately but yeah. That show rocks. even WITH Eric Young and ODB the crop of champions they have Roode, Daniels/Kazarian, Aries, Kim, ODB/ EY, are a better crop of champions than Sheamus/Punk/R Boom/ Layla/ Christian/ Santino.

Plus the shows have competitive matches on them and solid promos and basically no filler.

UPDATE: Dana White had the following to say about Brock Lesnar's appearance at UFC 146 and the possibility of a return to the UFC:

On Brock's appearance at the show: "He was here. I think that says it all."

On how the appearance came about: "He texted me and said, 'I want to come to the fight, but keep it quiet because I don't want to tell anybody. He said, 'What are you doing tonight? ... I want to talk face to face.' You never know with him. He might want to come back. He might just want to hang out."

On Lesnar's MMA status: "I still think Brock Lesnar is one of the top guys in the heavyweight division. Is he in the top five? I don't know. We'll see."

On whether Brock could work with both UFC and WWE: "I think people get it now with Brock. Brock is a huge WWE star and huge UFC star. He's accomplished at both. ... He went back to the WWE. There's no secret. I think people get it. There's nothing fake going on here. It's real. They get it."

ORIGINAL: As reported earlier, Brock Lesnar was in attendance at UFC 146. At the post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White stated that Lesnar, who retired after a TKO loss to Alistair Overeem in December, may make a comeback to mixed martial arts. White noted he is scheduled to meet with Brock on Saturday night.

After retiring from MMA in December, Lesnar made his return to WWE on April 2. On WWE television, they are currently running a storyline involving Lesnar quitting the popular pro wrestling organization. Reportedly, White said he wouldn't be opposed to Brock returning to the UFC while still performing in WWE.

In eight mixed martial arts fights, Lesnar compiled a 5-3 record, winning the UFC heavyweight championship in his fourth fight and defending it twice. He lost his last two fights before announcing his retirement.

I'm pretty sure Vince would be opposed to it though.

Brock going to UFC 146 last night was a good move by WWE, whether it was on purpose or whether he just wanted to go. It helps sell the kayfabe angle of him quitting WWE and potentially going back to UFC, and it helps sell the angle to the smarks that Brock is unhappy in WWE and sees the greener grass on the other side of the fence.

I was a little confused as to why RVD's thirst for vengeance for being put on the shelf for months was satisfied by pinning Gunner for a 3-count in a standard match, but I guess that's a credit to RVD's zen.

That has always been a problem with wrestling to be honest.

Even No DQ and unsanctioned matches end with pinfalls eventually. Wouldn't you want to prolong your opponents punishment and not really care rather you won or lost? At the very least, more of these matches should end by submission.

Well yes, I was only half-joking when I said it was a credit to RVD's zen.

Gunner took away months of his career, and yet upon return he A.) had his priorities straight and didn't let a thirst for vengeance override his focus on a title opportunity granted him by Hogan, and B.) once the title opportunities faded and getting payback from Gunner now became a reasonable top priority, he didn't escalate the war, or show any belief in "eye for an eye" or anything like that. He instead took greatest satisfaction in proving that he was a better professional wrestler than Gunner (who most likely would have disagreed), and to me that's the sign of a mature and grounded individual.

Now apply that same sort of mindset to Sting vs. Roode. CLEARLY Bobby Roode values his status as World Champion above all else. He defines himself by his title reign. And yet here we have Sting, his enemy, consistently trying to place value in just beating Roode up in situations where the title isn't on the line. Roode doesn't care! You're not going to beat respect into Bobby Roode. If you really hate him that much, then the Hogan method is actually better: keep putting Roode's reign in jeopardy.

And I'm fine with grudge matches ending in pinfalls, but only when the character motivations have clearly been fulfilled.

Take Punk vs. Jericho at Extreme Rules for example. Punk going for an inside cradle right off the bat would have been REALLY stupid. But 20 minutes into the match when Punk has battered and bruised Jericho and has clearly subdued him, I'm fine with just ending it there, especially as a face.

Unless you are some psychotic heel, eventually you do just want to end things and stop the war once you've clearly won.

When I first saw Cena on an early 05 Smackdown, I thought it was kinda cool that he was wearing regular clothes instead of wrestling gear because it fit his character. Like he was a guy from the streets, sort of an outsider with more in common with the fans in attendance than his fellow superstars. It made sense then that he wouldn't have traditional wrestling attire because WE don't have traditional wrestling attire and he was supposed to be more like one of us. It's like the difference between what guys wear playing street basketball vs regulation NBA uniforms (or more like NBA uniforms from the 70s before street styles started influencing them). It made him seem more authentic because it was a part of his character.

But now that's not part of his character. Now his character is all about the wrestling establishment and how working for WWE is all that there is in his life and how much respect he has for "this business". That's a character who SHOULD be wearing traditional gear. If it were the norm to dress in regular clothes, that would be the one character who SHOULD wear traditional gear. So yeah, it doesn't fit him anymore and I'd like it better if he wore something more tradition. In Devon's case it's not as bad because it doesn't directly contradict his character, but track pants make him look a little TOO casual. I mean how hard would it be to come to the ring in track pants and then take them off and have trunks underneath for the match? Guys like Kofi and Elijah Burke and Funkasaurus did it, why can't Devon? And if it's something like he wants to wear pants because he's got chunky thighs or something, he could just wear pants that are still wrestling attire, like Rey does.

In stark contrast to Joe and Punk, Daniel Bryan LOOKS more like a serious professional wrestler. His ring gear all matches and has consistent style and panache, he's clearly in great shape and looks properly toned and athletic, and he carries himself in the ring like he's here to grapple.

The beard is kind of the ONLY "unprofessional" part of his image these days.

From a functional standpoint as well, the beard creates more friction and thus makes it harder for the bearded person to escape from holds such as sleepers or chinlocks.

In THEORY, beyond just looks, this is why most pro wrestlers remove their body hair.

Although also in theory if you were facing an educated striker like Punk, having an extremely bushy beard or a huge afro would actually probably play to your advantage as shock absorption.

Bryan's beard isn't quite bushy enough to actually play into that though. Gotta be at least Sandow-length.
