Oh hey, I was just thinking constant Youtube ads have made me significantly reconsider watching videos on there. Clearly doing more of that is a *great* idea

you'd think it would be Microsoft to try this first!
sony has consistently been the most greedy and disregarding of it's customers of the console manufacturers, like, I'm pretty vocal about nintendo being the worst of them because they don't make good games anymore and don't have 3rd party support to fall back on, but on ETHICS, sony has always been the worst of the three by far.

I'm not talking about any of that, I'm just referring to MS's hard-on for putting ads on 360

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more of this in this generation, at least I would have expected pre-game advertisements or loading screen ads, sort of like ads at the beginning of dvds or blu-rays.
But mid-game? I'd hate that so much. Chances are they'd only put them on the guaranteed hits though, like CoD.
You mean other than the fact that they all involve lying and go out of their way to make themselves memorable by being really ****ing annoying, thus making your life worse for their own gain?

uh, an ad can be unethical by lying, but patenting something to allow ads in general is not. something bothering you is not unethical.
The weirdest thing about the ads on the 360 dashboard is how many of them are for Blizzard games that you can't play on 360. I mean I guess you can play em on a Microsoft platform but still! It's at least encouraging you to turn off the Xbox and thus stop looking at their ads.

Probably just patented so they can sue someone if they end up using something similar to it in the future. They even say it's a lot like a patent they took out in 2006 that they never did anything with.
