Im probably gonna get a dreamcast for 40 and Shenmue but was I just curious what else is good on there (if anything)

Honestly, most of the games there are better played on other systems/emulators by now.

Was Jet Grind Radio ever re-released? Wasn't my cup of tea, but a lot of people liked it. Grandia 2 was alright.

* san francisco rush 2049 battle mode is the best local multiplayer i've ever played
* sonic adventure 2 is a must-play if you never have, SA 1 is also worth playing
* hydro thunder is a very fun 2p racing game but the sp is a bit too hard
* ikaruga is very popular
* chu chu rocket is a must play puzzle game, and the multiplayer is very likable

Oh, didn't realize JGR or Grandia 2 were rereleased. Welp.

I don't think Project Justice was released on anything else. It's overpriced, but it's something!

Edit: Also Cannon Spike, if you want to play a Smash TV style shooter with Cammy/Charlie/Arthur/Mega Man/BBH . Way too short for what it costs now, but it was fun.

Tokyo Extreme Racer (OK, this may not suit a lot of people, but I liked it)


Alright, that little trip through the GameFAQs archives was a neat bit of nostalgia. You should be able to get some of the above games for a couple of bucks. Others... well, you decide if they're worth it.

But Crazy Taxi is great. Original arcade music, a few extra modes, and just a blast to play. Plus you'll find it cheap.

Oh yeah, Crazy Taxi is best played on the Dreamcast if you like The Offspring.

Dreamcast maracas seem to be extremely overpriced, if Amazon is any indication.

Sonic Shuffle can be hella fun if you have 2-3 open-minded friends and don't mind some annoying load times.

Most of the must plays have improved versions on newer consoles though (Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure 2, Ikaruga, etc)

You have to play with 3 friends because the CPU cheats so hard

Sonic Shuffle is such a bad game

Power Stone 1/2, Ikaruga, RE Code Veronica, Jet Grind Radio, Evolution 1/2, Legacy of Kain, Grandia 2, Gauntlet Legends were all fun. Plus the other stuff mentioned in this topic. Except Sonic Shuffle.

Grandia II Dreamcast is STILL the best version, so go with that. DC > PC > PS2 is the order there.
Crazy Taxi too. re-releases don't have the liscenced music, which honestly is half the fun of the game.

most of the rest is better on other systems. however with that said, sicne the DC has... simple ways to it, Ikaruga's a good one. avoid SoA, that's a straight 'just do legends, it's better.'

Maken X (I actually have never heard of this game until just now, but it's made by Atlus and appears to have to same artist as the older MegaTen games)

I don't know if the Dreamcast is region free but there are ways to find out...

Blue Stinger - If you liked Resident Evil 1-3, this is similar with better gameplay and even more cheesy. Like, if Resident Evil's the classic zombie movie, this game is the Evil Dead series to that.

Headhunter - Pretty cool stealth/third person shooter game. Just good quality all around in it, kinda cool to see a game in this genre done with such quality at around the same exact time as MGS2 came out (like, literally were out within a week of each other).
