"Korra is shocked to discover the secrets Tenzin has been keeping and begins to suspect one of her allies is working for the Equalists. Tahno is interrogated about the events at the pro-bending tournament."

First of all, YAY at Tahno being in more scenes than just the one in the preview. Maybe they aren't done with him after all.

Will Tenzin's secrets have to do with Yukon? Maybe what's happening in her visions? Aang and Toph?

And lastly, I think she'll at least start to suspect Asami. She may be a red herring. The real bad guy is probably her father, but Korra initially blames Asami.

Holy crap man.
Asami would have been SO MUCH COOLER if she would have joined her father/the Equalists and then at some point down the road the weight of what she was doing got to her and she switched back to team avatar.

I just don't really like her. She's a pretty boring character.

This episode made Asami awesome

One of the best things about this show is that all of the main characters are top tier characters. Korra, Bolin, Tenzin, Lin, Mako, Pabu, Amon, and now Asami. Even Tahno would be if they showed him more.

Speaking of that, do you think this was his farewell? Looks like it was

If it was Tahno's farewell, that's sucks. So much wasted potential.

I guess I just didn't really care for this episode much. It didn't make Asami awesome to me, she's still just really f***ing bland. I mean, the fight was awesome as hell, but this is probably my least favorite episode of the series so far.

Wow, what an episode. I thought there might be a bit of a come down after the incredible high of Ep. 6, but I was proved wrong. My main hope was to see Asami properly involved, and that happened. I'm a lot more positive about her than most here, it seems (though it still lowers my opinion of Mako that he prefers her to Korra!). It was an interesting way to play it - that she was ignorant of her father's pursuits, and chooses to join the benders when confronted with the reality (would she have done so, but for the threat to Mako?). Korra saying "she needs you..." to Mako before glancing across at him, as if to say, "but I want you" was a great note to end on. I'm sure there's more to come from that romance triangle, and I much prefer when those issues rise up only occasionally, rather than dominating a whole episode.

The main thrust of this episode, though, was reinforcing Amon's strength. He has access to powerful golems, which can pose a huge danger even to skilled benders, and to a substance which they can't use (platinum). He's manipulated events to allow Tarlokk, either an accomplice or an ambitious fool, to undermine Bei Fong, who's now gone rogue. I think Republic City might even fall before the end of the series now.

Other points:
- When Sato & co. captured Tenzin & co., I dared to hope for a moment that we might get to see Bolin and Mako going on a mission to rescue them. Alas, it was not to be.
- Tenzin can fight! Not a patch on his dad, though.
- I fear that Bei Fong might be the first big character to lose her bending now. She's inevitably going to attack Amon to free her troops...
- I enjoyed the structure of the episode, moving from the lighthearted start, through a seemingly promising investigation, to a confrontation that developed Asami.
- Sato should really have told Asami earlier - he could easily have got her on side as a child. But once she'd starting building friendly relationships with benders, there was always the possibility of losing her.
- Speaking of Asami, props to her for doing exactly what came into my mind - "take the glove, and then electrocute him."

New episode ranking:

1. And the Winner Is... (I think this will be #1 for a good while)
2. The Aftermath
3. The Revelation
4. Welcome to Republic City
5. A Leaf in the Wind
6. The Voice in the Night
7. The Spirit of Competition (I enjoyed this ep. a lot even though it's last.)

I've been rewatching S3 of Aang's story, and I have to say, the quality of Korra is substantially higher on average. Not just the animation, but the intensity of events and the writing. I'm not as connected to the non-Korra characters here though, but it's still early. I think it's easier to feel a kinship with the characters in TLA because they were journeying on their own, so we saw everything from a collective point of view, whereas here we're viewing largely through Korra.

I think his biggest problem was trying too hard to accept benders by letting her date Mako, and then sponsoring the team. He was uncharacteristically going out of his way to hide his anti-bending true self, and there was no way he could've kept that up forever. Especially with the brothers living in his house, he would've cracked eventually. He should've just focused more on hiding his secret factory, and gaining the trust of his employees so that they wouldn't snitch on him.

My understanding, having only watched the episode once, was that the employee wasn't snitching on him, but was part of a plan to lure Tenzin/Bei Fong/Korra to the underground base, where they could be ambushed and captured. I can't think of any reason why he'd have thought Asami wouldn't come down with them, having had her suspicions raised.

Which seems ridiculous, given Amon's belief that Korra should be fought LAST.

Just watched...very nice episode.

Little bit in disbelief of even Sato having so much solid platinum. Seriously. For the material cost of just one of those mechs he could like...buy a city. Horribly inefficient. If those things get mass produced I am going to facepalm so hard.

Loved the resolution though with Asami making a show of taking the glove and using it against Sato. Was definitely expecting it. Don't really mind her much as a character now.

As for the Tahno thing...eh, I kinda like the 'potential' being squashed. It was a little cliche to begin with, and him being drained reaffirms the need to stop Amon. It made for a nice scene.

Good stuff all around.

The small scene with Tahno made the episode for me, really.(Though it was great in general.) It's just one of those reminders that Korra has no real connection with the spirit world. She can't meditate like Aang did and just pull quick fixes; once Amon removes your bending, that's it. It'll be interesting if they show him in later episodes in small bursts with how he's coping.

gotta say that this was actually a weaker episode compared to the others with the disjointed pacing, the rushed development of Asami, and the convenience of the events happening

i even laughed when Lin said outside the law dramatically

didn't she say in the first episode that he didn't like vigilantes? and it's not like the law ever seemed to have held her back in fighting the Equalists!

of course, the fight scenes are always top-notch and i'm glad they didn't go overboard with Asami's already rushed character development by keeping her with the good guys

her turning evil would have been cringe-worthy

Eh, I thought the pacing was natural - about 1/3rd lighthearted playfulness (note the bright daylight and vivid colour during this section), 1/3rd investigatory build-up (note the more muted tones and colours during this section), 1/3rd climactic confrontation. I understand the point about Asami, but I feel that was as much previous episodes' fault as this one - if you bring a character and do nothing with them for 3-4 eps, you might need to rush them on a bit down the line. And I dunno, most people at least suspected Sato's company was behind Amon's weapons. I don't see anything else surprising enough to call convenient, other than maybe Asami's reaction and the new weapon. Amon's always scheming ways to turn events to his advantage - it's reasonable to infer that as soon as Sato was alerted to the investigation he told the boss, and he came up with the plan to lure the crew in with a fake mole.

Just watched the bloodbending episode - Legend of Aang, S3E9, The Puppetmaster - again. We've never seen anyone other than Katara or Hama use bloodbending (and according to Hama, it's only doable under a full moon), so it seems reasonable to assume only Katara knows how to do it. I wonder if one reason for keeping Katara around - remembering she's only been in one episode so far - was to have her teach the art to Korra, but then I wonder what sort of circumstances would be necessary for her to contemplate doing so. Also, Hama, Katara and Korra are all from the Southern Water Tribe, so if Katara was to pass it on to Korra, it would become part of their heritage, which is what Hama implied she wanted when she said "I never thought I'd meet another Southern Waterbender. I'd like to teach you what I know so you can carry on the Southern tradition when I'm gone."
