Even with the usual stuff showing, this somehow feels better. The net is lighting up just like it did on April 1st too, so I bet that they're gonna get the funding they need to expand the schedule! All aboard for Panty & Stocking + One Piece, woot woot.
Yeah, the big thing right now is just giving Toonami the support and showing the network that it's worth the time and money again.
They could have had a better line-up and maybe out other new series, because right now DMW and Casshern are going to be carrying this block. That is, if reruns of Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop reruns don't put enough asses in the seats.

From: Xiahou Shake | #151 The net is lighting up just like it did on April 1st too, so I bet that they're gonna get the funding they need to expand the schedule! I wouldn't get excited over night one. I think even the skeptical network executives thought it'd draw a big reaction on debut just because "oh my god Toonami." The key is for people to stay interested over the next few months.
I sort of doubt the ratings will be that much better than the old anime block's after the excitement wears off, which would be a shame. I hope I'm wrong, though.

I really liked the concept of Deadman Wonderland so I'll be tuning in for that one for sure! Was not too impressed with Casshern but I'll give it a chance to pick up before completely dismissing it.
Overall, it kind of felt like a really half-assed "rise from the ashes" but given funding restraints that's understandable. It was so great seeing the Tom promos again, but nostalgia can only go so far. So in short my hype took a hit, but it's not dead yet.
Pretty much what Gen said. I know it's gotta have some time and TLC before it blossoms again, but it's nice seeing the sprouts pop out of the ground after being dormant for so long. I'm also thrilled that it's not going to be just a nostalgia-fest (though partly due to rights) because "The 90s are All That" is a similar late-night nostalgia promotion and it's not that great if it just runs on the past with nothing new.
Which isn't to say I always like new things. Toon Disney, Boomerang, TV Land, Nick at Nite. All of these things were interesting because they were the old cartoons and shows that we could tune into anytime. But it's all new and crappier stuff for most of them and it's less exciting.
Toonami's doing very good in my eyes right now. It's not setting off to be what it was from the get-go and not just the past. It's going to continue to be delivering new and great stuff to those who want to watch. I'm sad that it's a mature Saturday only block, but who knows? Maybe in a few years, weekdays will have the Absolution again.
Looking forward to more. Only Toonami.

I still think that instead of reairing the 3 hours right afterwards, they could have the old anime there (YYH, Trigun, Outlaw Star etc.) Especially if it goes well and they pick up Panty and Stocking, Fairy Tail and what not. There wont be room for the older series in those 3 hours then, and I like a good mix of new and old, though I wish they change their old series sometimes so it's not Bebop being on forever.
Imagine it being something like: 12:00AM - Bleach 12:30AM - Deadman Wonderland 01:00AM - Casshern Sins 01:30AM - Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt 02:00AM - One Piece 02:30AM - Fairy Tail 03:00AM - Fullmetal Achemist: Brotherhood 03:30AM - Cowboy Bebop 04:00AM - Yu Yu Hakusho 04:30AM - Trigun 05:00AM - Ghost in the Shell 05:30AM - Durarara
3 hours of new stuff, 3 hours of old finished stuff. Some of the premieres might be better off being switched around though, but whatever.

Maybe once they get more funding, but the big problem is that a lot of the time after 3 AM is a dead zone for television. Even a little later is a stretch. I'm pretty sure they know this and that's why Casshern and DMW are both on relatively early.
Apparently DMW had a short run as an anime, so it's interesting to see what they'll do with that.

okay. I tried to watch deadman wonderland... but just could not. I got to like maybe 5 minutes in or something...and the first episode was one of the better ones in the series.
But i did manage to get passed casshern sins.
Conclusion; Toonami needs better shows

this block is slowly looking doomed to fail because its really hard to recreate the toonami atmosphere. I wish they would scrap adult swim/make it start later and run an toonami uncut block from 11pm to 1am on weekdays or something.

Black Lagoon would be awesome and kind of a perfect fit for the half-Toonami/half-Adult Swim thing they have going on here (yeah, this isn't really Toonami). Never saw Darker than Black, but I've heard good stuff about it.
Also I should've kept a Casshern Counter. I swear they said "Casshern" about fifty times throughout the first episode. Yeesh.
For anyone who cares enough... If you want Toonami to stick around the best thing to do is probably to tweet about it. TV ratings are weird and actually watching a show doesn't matter at all if you don't own a Nielsen box. DVRing also helps depending on what cable provider you have. Tweeting is easiest to do so yeah #toonami all the way.

I've been tweeting the hell outta Toonami for a while now and implore anyone else remotely willing to make a twitter account to do the same.
You are two hundred twenty something episodes in I think. Maybe more. I dunno. And I guess Ichigo went back to his home town. Honestly I don't even care anymore. I can.barely follow this crap. You miss four episodes in a row and you're lost forever. >_>
From: Sorozone | #193 Yea the anime will probably start up again just to finish off the final arc. Which could be a couple-few years. Oh, so it's Inuyasha all over again.
From: Jeff Zero | #194 I take it the manga is ongoing, then? Yes. The final arc started in February? I think. Of course, since it's a Shounen final arc, it'll be a few years before it's probably done. Probably.
