YYH would be perfectly fine to bring back, but its no more of a "necessity" as DBZ, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, etc.

Until they announce a lineup, it's not really all that exciting. Toonami was going to crap when it ended and I'm pretty much expecting they offload all the repeat anime from Adult Swim instead of using money to get old ones or new ones again.

In all likelihood, this probably isn't going to be "Toonami" as we remember it. After all, it's on Adult Swim. It'll probably just be the regular generic anime crap they show on Saturdays with some "mature" Tom sequences. The name of the official Twitter account contains the b word.

I'm pretty sure it'll be mainly new stuff, like Fairy Tail, Panty and Stocking, Tiger & Bunny, etc. To make Toonami successful they need to cater to a new and more modern audience... Playing the same shows on rerun would do nothing but appeal to people with nostalgia for a couple weeks until they get bored.

Panty & Stocking is...a choice I wouldn't expect given a giant amount of content in it would be censored even on adult swim. It'd just be so censored it'd be close to unwatchable not that it isn't already unwatchable by being a bad series, but that's a different matter.

Well yeah, that's true, but like, for instance they have Inuyasha on around the same time as Big O. One of those has an obvious place on Toonami, and it's not Inuyasha.

a good mix of new and old woulda been better, but I'm really glad they weren't banking on nostalgia, and it has more new than old. We saw what happened to the 90s is all that block and how after a month nobody gives a ****.

YYH is getting a bit too much love in this topic btw. Good show but hardly the most important show to bring back or anything.

I think what they need to do the most is recreate the atmosphere that toonami had. The problem with this relaunch is its looking like its Saturday night only. That was like the one day toonami wasn't airing in the late 90s/early 00s. Id rather see a Mon-Thurs late afternoon block and then a Friday anime movie/special feature. Of course that would be asking for like 5 times more air time, and it seems like the youth of today likes CN the way it is.

I do feel there is a market for 90s CN. People in their early to late 20s still watch cartoons. I'd like to see boomerang go back to strictly the baby boomer cartoons and then have a generation y cn channel or something.

CN is already doing pretty well in that aspect. Adventure Time and Regular Show are big hits with that same 90s target audience, and they also have that Friday hour-long block of 90s and early 2000s cartoons.

Really the biggest thing about Toonami coming back is just knowing that the network is listening to their audience. Only thing to do now is hope it does well enough to get more funding so that new Toonami can get even better.

edit: damn that quote is ugly. gamefox is all kinds of broken right now
