Yeah you're thinking of the Scamp in Caldera.

Anagram -> Balmora, Ald'ruhn and Vivec are probably the biggest cities of the game, so it's there you're the most likely to be able to sell everything you have.

And I guess Mournhold if you have the expansion, every merchants have like 10000 gold.

I don't know if I have the expansion. I just bought the Steam version, Steam games usually have the expansions with them.

By the way, is it really worth it to level up my willpower and magicka? I seem to be doing fine with my sword, but I'm afraid of encountering more sword-immune enemies like that ghost earlier. And when my spells fail, is that because of my wearing armor, or because I have low magicka and willpower? And is putting effort into leveling up fireball actually worth the effort?

CHAPTER FIVE: SOME STUFF HAPPENS I GUESS

I screw around in Petrograd for a while, finding three more merchants and a lot of goods to steal and sell to them. I lay down to rest and level up (x4 str, x2 speed, x2... something else, I forget), but an assassin of the Dark Brotherhood attacks me, oh no! Fortunately, he proves to be something of a wuss, but a guard the next day tells me to go to Ebonhawk to report this. By the way, the assassin dropped incredibly expensive items, and I was only able to sell a few of them. A human implied he could increase my longsword skill with training, but refused to train non-guard members. What a dick.

I decided to go to Varric, but encountered a cave not far from Petrograd. Entering it, I was attacked by a human and a dark elf. I murdered them both, but even after resting, I couldn't take on the human warrior/mage duo deeper in the cave. I do not know what is behind them, but I bet it's valuable.

I can level up again, but none of my skills will get above a x2 modifier, so I'm going to hold off for as long as I can.


Also, a priestess told me I could join her club if I go unarmored and use only blunt weapons. I told her I'd think about (I won't).



Also, I learned that this world has an Asia-equivalent, from which they apparently import katanas. They should set a game there, too few RPGs are set in faux-Asian countries, it's always a European place.

Morrowind is such a great game, god i wish i could play it for the first time again. Well, at least i have countless mods to explore.

there's no reason to use magic if you don't want to (imho magic in morrowind is kinda crappy). ghosts are immune to normal weapons. you'll be able to attack them normally if you get a silver (or better) weapon or any enchanted weapon. it doesn't matter what the enchantment is, it just needs to be enchanted in some way and it'll hurt them like normal.

Ah, thank you. It's a shame I already took destruction and restoration, but whatever. I'll also pick up a silver two-handed sword, I think I know where to get one.

What do the mark and recall spells do?

Also, is there any way to increase my possibly inventory load other than increasing my strength?

Mark sets a "mark" where you cast it. Recall teleports you to your mark.

There's a spell effect called feather which will decrease your encumbrance, but it's pretty useless unless you have a constant effect enchantment of it. Other than that, increasing your strength is the only way.

The way I always saw it, magic in Morrowind isn't that great for battle, but it is that great for utility. Charm, open, levitate, and the transportation spells are quite useful, among others.

Destruction magic still has its uses..

Okay not really, unless you build a character around Destruction magic it's terrible, though in Anagram's case he doesn't have a ranged damage option so it's not THAT bad, though as an Imperial he probably has something like 40 Magicka, good enough for low level ranged spells!

A bow could be useful, but you'll need to pay for training. Using a bow with anything below 30 in Marksman isn't even worth it because of the incredible miss rate.

Low level training is pretty cheap though!

Made it to Vivic. The outside area consists of kwama ranches and flying jellyfish ranchers, but none of it seemed to be very important, so I more-or-less ignored them. Vivic is enormous and has a complex layout, so I've so far only begun to explore the foreign quarter plaza. I visited the two smiths; one of them wants me to steal a contract the other has, and the other says things like "someone is watching me" but I can't bring it up in dialogue. Of interest: breaking into the second smith's bedroom claims he alerts the guards, but no guards show up and he remains neutral, so I don't think it matters. Giving the contract to the first smith gives me a reward, but, afraid of screwing something up, I just reset to before the first smith offered me the quest.

Next time: checking out the fighter's guild and the mage's guild.

Went through the plaza, joined the Fighters Guild. I was uncertain if I could also join the Mages Guild, so I didn't try (I probably should have). Stole everything I could from both guilds and sold it. A guy gave me a leaflet warning me against an apothecary; I went to her, and she told me it was all lies. I went back to him and learned that another apothecary is spreading the leaflets to hurt her competition. That's almost as immoral as stealing from your own guild, so I decided to confront her... later.

Also, I bought lots of athletics training. It was probably a waste of money, but eh.

How do I read books in my inventory and use repair prongs and stuff?

IIRC, just drag the item to your character portrait in your inventory screen. Or double click. Forgot.

Anyway, Mages Guild have loads of stuff you'll want down the road, so check out their services.

Also I broke into a blacksmith's back, stole all of his equipment, sold it to another blacksmith, and kept a dai-katana for myself. I could have kept the steel claymore for myself, which was identical but sold for less, but you have to yield to your characterization occasionally, and I feel Tylava the thief/ultimate warrior loves katanas.

No matter what "type" of character I create in this game, they always become a thief.

Also I just loaded up a file from last year which was at the end of the main game and stepped into the Tribunal expansion for literally the first time. Might do a topic for that but I don't know how well that works for my playstyle (longer sessions but with more downtime in between sessions--not as easy to do an enjoyable topic)

Is there any way to steal from people who are in the room? I occasionally see a magic weapon in a crate or something, but there's always someone there.
