Because of level scaling.

Basically EVERYTHING scales with you, enemies, quest rewards, loot, everything.

So if you go in a dungeon at level 1 you'll only find loot around that level, weak-ass enemies, etc.

If you go in the same dungeon at level 30 you'll find loot suitable for a level 30 and enemies around that level.

Basically, no surprises.

Better than Oblivion, a tad less scaling but ultimately it's really similar.

At least combat is better (though TES combat is still mediocre) and dragon encounters are pretty interesting.

Did a few more Vivec quests, nothing to talk about. Got a new quest from the fighter's guild, they told me to find an Argonian, I think he's in another city, but I couldn't find it on the map. Here I am right now.

I wissh I could easily raise willpower, even basic restoration spells fail a lot for me.

Ah, yeah, that quest. The Mages Guild can transport you to that city. But before you complete that quest... pay a visit to the Fighter's Guild leader in that city, and talk to him about it.

Skill level has a much bigger effect on success rate than willpower.

If you'd like you can go in one of the mageguild and have a spellmaker make spells you can cast with a good success rate.

Something like, Heal 5-10 on self, good to use out of combat, low mana cost and 100% success rate, will raise your Restoration level pretty fast too.

Oh and if you join the mage guild you can empty the Mage Guild's Supply Chest, contains restore magicka potions.

I was unaware using potions raises your skills. But the spellmaking interests me, I've ignored it so far.

Well, spellmaking allows you to make pretty much any kind of spell, so long as you know that spell effect. You know that spell effect if it's in one of your spells in your spellbook, or one of your Greater/Lesser Powers.

I'm more interested to know how you're going to handle that quest once you have all the information, actually. Heck, the Fighter's Guild questline in it's entirety.

Okay, I have a few questions. First: can you dual wield in this game? Second: which of these should I use?
Steel Dai-Katana
Chop: 1-27
Slash: 1-23
Thrust: 1-14
20 pounds

Iron Sparkslayer
Chop: 1-25
Slash: 1-21
Thrust: 1-14
27 pounds
Casts When Strikes
Shock Damage 1-4 points
Charge 10/10

Does that mean its shock damage only works ten times? How do you recharge it?

1. No.

2. Go for enchanted, though you may want to keep the steel one to enchant later. Then again, you'll most likely find better material stuff. Anyway, yes, after ten strikes, the weapon no longer deals additional shock damage. It will still harm ghosts and it's like though. To recharge. Visit your local enchanter where he will recharge it for a price... or use a filled Soul Gem to charge it yourself.

Oh God oh God oh God

I loaded up Morrowind to play for a bit, and finished exploring Vivev (finally, though I haven't done any sewer trudging yet), but I realized I somehow lost both the package for Caius Cosades, the main quest, and a medium armor worth 5000 gold. I don't know what happened to them.

Seriously though, that is a BIG problem. You need the package.

Load up a previous save and see when exactly you lost it.

You probably sold it to a merchant, if you can't reload a previous game just check out every merchant that buys paper (bookstores, general stores) you dealt with for it.

Usually they don't get rid of what you sell them.

I've talked to every single damn merchant in the entire city, and I've made multiple dumps in various containers of things I didn't feel like carrying, it could literally be in any district, and my last save I can reload to where I had it is like five hours of gameplay ago.

Argh this is super annoying, I don't suppose I can go back to Seyda Neyn or whatever it's called and get a new package?

No. Just the one.

Luckily, PC players have a fix. CONSOLE! From the wiki:

If lost, the package is irretrievable in the XBox version; you will not be able to continue on in the main quest. The package can, however, be restored to your inventory in the PC version by opening the console and typing:
Player-> additem "bk_a1_1_caiuspackage"1.

You should probably pick a single location to drop stuff off that you don't want to carry so these kinds of things don't happen again. Just do Caius's house or something like that since you'll go there pretty often.

I'm going to try checking a few merchants in Vivev I think I might have sold the package to, but I have no idea of what happened to my 5000 gold armor. I know I didn't sell it because I couldn't even find a merchant with more than 2000 gold to spend.

Accepted a quest to deliver an apology to a mage, did not realize the quest was to deliver an apology in the form of a book, sold the book without knowing, am not even going to try to figure out which of the eight thousand book vendors I sold it to. Also accepted a quest to find a serial killer, have not begun it yet. Reached level 9, made a spell to train my restoration skill, works perfectly but is really boring to use.

I've given up trying to find the package for the guy. I have no idea what happened to it. Also: is there a maximum level in this game?

Still messing around in Vivec eh.

Not sure if there's a hard cap for levels... But once your minor and major skills are all 100, you can't level up anymore. Which also means if your stats aren't maxed out, you're out of luck.

Though I think if you serve your time in jail, you randomly get a skill reduced, so there's that.

Actually there are still ways to level up after maxing out all skills. What you do is fortify a Major/Minor skill above 100 and then go to the Master trainer for that skill. He'll train it, but the skill won't increase. If it's a major or minor skill, though, it will still count toward a level-up.
