I wouldn't call it "interrupted" so much as... that kind of coincided with that, yeah.

Also what was that one girl's name again, the one we avoided combat with repeatedly? For as much as I liked her I'll be damned if I can't remember any names.

There are a lot of those. Daley the maid got mentioned in chat but presumably you don't mean her. We've avoided combat with Winter a lot, but that's not it either. Um...

I think Daley's right. Okay...

Updated NPC list: http://pastebin.com/PKt9Lqc7

Top 3 tiers separated into groups of 5. 4th tier above unranked made 10.

"No opinion" is "Unranked" now. Unranked NPCs with a positive opinion are noted with a (+), those without I simply lack an opinion for. These are the most likely to change as more objective thought are put into them, and since they lack a tangible rank, it just feels "easier", since I'm reluctant to change rankings in retrospect unless I've put enough objective thought into it.

Hoo boy, where to begin...

Winter: From the very beginning Winter always seemed to be that one NPC that we were supposed to feel for. She was always helpful without question, her antics were entertaining, and she stuck through it all even when it got it's worst. Then she was taken away from us. And when it seemed like she had been turned into the enemy, we realized she was still herself. We were SO CLOSE to getting her back, and then she was taken away again. On that day, the party curb-stomped a villain harder than they ever had before. Because she took Winter from us. Again. As time went by, we learned of her fate and met with her again, and while she remained on the opposing side, it was clear she was still herself, even if she had been deceived. Winter's never changed, she's always been her same good self, and in spite of everything the party's done, some of which rather questionable, she never changed. While Miss R might be our favorite running gag who ultimately became an awesome character in her own right, there's one thing that differentiates her from Winter to me. Winter is weathering the storm, inside the belly of the beast she continues to remain herself, even when used as a plaything by Ephestral. She's our dear friend, but even if she wasn't that, she's also a diamond in the rough amongst the Raelites, an innocent woman with only the best intentions. And in spite of all the things we've done she still considers us heroes. For that, in my mind, she has to be #1. We could change the world and create a paradise, but as long as she remains in the clutches of Rael... we still have work to do.

Saya: In some of the same vein as the logic used for Winter, Saya's rank bumps up in my mind. Again she's another NPC that views us as heroes in spite of all the stupid, questionable things we tend to do. She's something we rarely have, something welcome, something we need more of: an ally on the outside. We have our NPC brigade but some of them qualify more as groupies than true allies. Saya's what we need more of, in my opinion.

Atharathes: An NPC that has legitimately changed in a positive way from our actions. Even though she was technically a harmless extra for a good period of time, she ultimately changed and became a beloved member of the group. As far as our zany crew of NPCs goes she has quite a lot of funny scenes, and in general is just an entertaining member of the crew.

Ephestral: Honestly the sort we need more of. While she's a villain and undoubtedly evil, some of her actions even downright deplorable and spiteful, she still manages to remain (and this is a facet subject to my opinion rather harshly) INTERESTING. Yes she is powerful, and yes she holds all the cards while remaining on her high horse, but most of what we've seen out of her seems believable enough without coming across as having been mandated by the plot. More importantly, despite her position as villain, she seems more like a person and less an incarnation of the DM's plot. Rael himself is an interesting character but the concept of "omnipotent wizard as strong as the power of PLOT" is a tired one that was the whole reasoning for the party's exit of the Twilight.

These write-ups are kind of a mess and come across as very first-drafty IMO, but I think this is how I feel about our supporting cast. Really, the hardest part about this is that the lowest opinion I have of any of them is just indifference, there isn't anyone that I objectively dislike.

Bob: I still like Bob. Even if he's kind of a "running gag" NPC with little weight behind him, I still find him entertaining when he makes an appearance, which is something that is important to my opinion. With that said, I suppose the gag has run dry enough that I've come to realize it shouldn't outweigh characters with more thought put into them.

Kim: And despite what I just said, ceiling Kim is watching and is hilarious. And hey, even without that I do just like Kim's character, someone willing to help without question, she's a nice gal.

Gwen: I'll admit it. I think she's goddamn adorable. Maybe I'm weird? Other than that, Gwen remains something of a goal for the party. Something to accomplish. I'd love to see her develop into more of a "real" character.

Rhea: Ana's probably going to hate me for this, but I feel obligated to bump Rhea down a few spots because my initial impressions of her just seem to be off. I don't want to start up the argument as to why I think she's way more thickheaded than she ought to be, but at the very least she DOES still come across as sane, which is more than can be said of some others. She's not objectively evil, but I have begun to think of her as a bit more selfish than I had originally viewed her. She's still interesting to me as a character, just... less so than when she originally made her debut?

Oa (That was her name, right? I really hope I didn't get that wrong somehow. I'm dumb.): She's a glimpse into something we've seen little of: Gods. We've met Edash and he was a pretty cool guy but he was the only other one. I want to know more about this world, and thus the deities interest me. Aside from that she's also enabled us to fix a stupid mistake we had made with no strings attached. She was reasonable and trusted us even though she had very little reason to do so. I like that sometimes, as utterly villainized as the party gets sometimes those few important NPCs that actually give us the benefit of the doubt are refreshing.

Aluxial: Totally has nothing to do with her new ultra-moe art (okay maybe a little). Now that I've put some thought into it, Aluxial is interesting to me for one reason, she's something the party had once feared, but got herself utterly shut down by Rael, and was perhaps the first real indication of how big a deal "the big bad" really is. Beyond that she is also one of our bigger "TAKE THAT" victories, having been one of Rael's favorite treasures. It's spiteful but hey, a win is a win, especially when it's a win against the utterly unwinnable. And I won't lie, Kirie-Aluxial antics are pretty damn funny.

Daley?: I feel bad for being so awful with names, but that's just me being awful with names. The NPC that we avoided combat with REPEATEDLY when Ana seemed to be banking on a combat encounter. She intrigues me because she seems an odd fit amongst the fanatics she's grouped with. I want to see more of her, and until I do I suppose I can't fairly rank her higher, but she seems promising.

Sometimes I get the feeling you have a tendency to overrank people just because they listen to you. Having NPCs that we can discuss things with and hope to actually make progress is great, but it's not like unreasonable makes a bad character and reasonable makes a good one.

I mean, for instance, you rank Saya so highly, but there's nothing really notable about her except for her role as mission leader. It's great that she helps the party with stuff, but to me she feels more like a plot device.

There is no such thing as "over ranking", it's my opinion. Make your own list if you don't like this one.

And let's be honest, it's the nature of the game for NPCs that aren't on our side that refuse to be agreeable to simply wind up as combat encounters. And as much as the party gets villainized, those few guys that willingly help us and try to help move things along are nice to have.

And beyond that, have you not seen Saya's interactions with Kirie and Val? She is a well-established character from the Twilight that has dynamically changed for the better who is WAY more of a character than a plot device.

There is such a thing, that's just the 'you can't argue with opinions' card. I'm questioning the foundation of that opinion, which is a perfectly sane thing to do.

And let's be honest, it's the nature of the game for NPCs that aren't on our side that refuse to be agreeable to simply wind up as combat encounters. And as much as the party gets villainized, those few guys that willingly help us and try to help move things along are nice to have.

Sure, and that makes them valuable to the plot. But as characters, judging them based on how convenient they are seems to miss the mark.

And beyond that, have you not seen Saya's interactions with Kirie and Val? She is a well-established character from the Twilight that has dynamically changed for the better who is WAY more of a character than a plot device.

But Saya changed so much completely off-screen. You can't use that as an argument, she's by most standards a completely new character from the one we had met. And her interactions with Kirie and Val don't make her seem any less like 'just the mission control character'. Like she's the faceless voice in a video game explaining your orders. I accept the value of that in the plot, but don't think it means an interesting character.

Saya's definitely changed on-screen, or at least revealed new facets of her personality. You should've seen her conversation with Valerian regarding the cloning plan, and later on the cut conversation about the state of the Shao empire. I don't have the same high opinion of her as Accel does but she's definitely more than just mission control.

not to complain too much, but continuing to have a broken artifact armor as it currently is, i am missing out on upgrading my armor to +4 and gaining a masterwork bonus of +1.

though, things did get a little bit shaken up in lloyd's world as i am going to lose the sickle in favor of daggers which lets me get that better lightning dagger and frees up a feat which lets me MC assassin which gives me a nifty power, a touch more damage, and brona tier stealth.

also going to nab a pitted flowstone and with permission refluff the acid stuff as lightning. this item will do fun things now that i have a decent speed setup...

there was also discussion about potential axe hax lloyd could use with a number of feats...still up in the air on this though, but the prospects for massive damage are a bit appealing.

also debating what power to get...torn between fist of the whirling tempest or steps of grasping fire. aside from the ranged factor, the latter is pretty much mechanically superior in every respect if not thematic. though, being able to literally trail fire behind lloyd is lulz. given lloyd and other's ability to move things....it really probably is the best choice...

Mmm, you are still +3 better than me since I forgot to completely do away with the Kirie bonus from all the skills I put it on as temp, but honestly, you're more skillful than Lloyd in more key skills.

Top Lloyd skills: acrobatics +22, stealth and endurance +20, perception +16, athletics and thievery +15
Top Brona skills: stealth +23, intimidate +21, bluff and diplomacy +19, acrobatics and thievery +16

i guess the perception could give Lloyd an edge (though not quite Val tier perception), i know endurance sure won't. Brona certainly can do charisma based things much better, which offers more story benefit mechanically though.

I never built Iloyd with an eye on skills as nothing he excels at means a whole lot storywise and is mostly just there to say Lloyd can endure and put on a show. My skillful person is easily Amy who offers much more story relevant things like arcana and history.

Session summary:

-Returning to the capital after finding traces of the demons' essence, the party found a demonologist who was able to identify it: The master of the demons is the demon lord Gyaral.
-Unfortunately, he proved difficult to track, as Ondal was not using a static portal to bring demons in. As the party considered their options, they were contacted by Shang, the Emperor's brother and advisor, with a plan to track Ondal down: by planting a tracer in a demon who would then retreat back to Ondal's hideout.
-Following Shang's advice, the party chose one of the sites of the most recent attacks and rode out. Finding a group of demons there, they easily dispatched them with the exception of a single hellhound. With Vanessa's help, Valerian tore open a scrap of flesh and placed the tracker inside, before sewing it shut.
-With the tracker in place, the party followed the Hound to the Shane cave system. There, they found the hound...dead! Its tracker had been found!
-Ondal stepped in to mock the heroes. Before he could say much, however, Brona shot him.
-A fierce battle took place. Ondal was an adversary of Epic proportions (literally: he had seven levels on us), but he proved to be no match for the party in the end. What went down was something like this... external image
-Followed by this: external image
-Defeated, Ondal spent his last breath mocking the heroes, before revealing a shocking truth: One of the party's allies had been taken hostage and left at the mercy of the Mind-flayer elder brain!
-Dispirited, the party returned to the capital, gripped by fear for their loved ones.
-CLIFFHANGER END.
-Also, we leveled up for killing a foe who was way way WAY outta our league with four guys, derailing Ana's plans to absolute hell. Victory!

Summary for CPU. Also because I love doing them.

Oooh...nice and shiny and functional! Me likey ._.

Though, some of the wording on that seems a little odd.

like this:

Property: You have damage resistance equal to this armor's enhancement bonus.
...
Change: Property: You have damage resistance equal to this armor's enhancement bonus + 3.

When do I get the changed property? (the point is rendered moot by lloyd being lloyd and will always choose speed over durability unless someone more tactical than him hammers it into him that DR might be useful sometimes)

also

Encounter Power: Free Action. Trigger: You use a Monk power. You are not considered to be in a Full Discipline state with that power.

Not sure I get all the implications from this. Does this mean that the movement and attacks are essentially untethered with this item? So that I could effectively mix and match or otherwise not lose out on one part of the discipline by using the other?

also

Property: When an enemy misses you with an attack, you gain a +1 bonus to speed. This bonus stacks with itself, increasing the amount of speed you can move and resetting the duration.

What duration?

And the final thing has llioyd instantly losing and gaining the ac bonuses which...struck me as a weird thing to do, though Kan mentioned it was casting the armor off, so that bit makes more sense but...just reading it as written was a bit lulz.

Overall just a few minor questions and quibbles. I definitely approve overall <3

Yeah, that's what it means with the encounter power. Once per fight you can mix and match powers, though do note that encounter powers are expended as soon as you use either portion - you don't get to use half in one turn and half on the other.

As for the duration I'm not sure, but if I had to guess, End of Next Turn? Seems to make the most sense to me.

Seems like a neat artifact.

So, will this be the last time I remake Mari's sheet in an attempt to capture the perfect combination of how I want her to fight? Probably not, but here's attempt #3. I think it might be the closest yet.

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=406036

The attack bonus on this sheet is absolutely ludicrous; +32 vs REF, two rolls, expanded crit, practically no effort.

That's:
+8 from half-level
+7 from WIS
+4 from enhancement
+3 from proficiency
+2 from feat
+2 item bonus from Eagle Eye Goggles
+1 bonus from Spiritbond
+1 bonus from Crimson Hunter feature
+1 power bonus from Lighter than Wind when you shift (easy)
+2 bonus from CA (easy with the Fey Beast Companion)
+1 bonus on CA from Nimble Blade (ditto)

Deft Blade makes it vs REF, Distant Vengeance makes it two rolls, Crimson Hunter gives it expanded crit. So crazy.

Decided against boon, obtained Strongheart Tattoo (Paragon).

Now every time I spend a healing surge I get a cumulative 2 more HP with it.

So my last surge of the day packs +20 hp. Jeez. Survivability!

--------
WISHLIST

Level 18: Circlet of Indomitability (paragon tier)
Level 20: Ring of Agile Thought (paragon tier)
Level 20: Diamond Cincture (paragon tier)
Level 21: Magic Ki Focus +5
Level 21: Amulet of Protection +5
Level 22: Dwarven Nagascale Armor +5

These are mostly for my own reference as many of them I can't even get with item vouchers yet.

Edit: Also, what do you think? Trade Combat Agility for Combat Superiority? Even though my wisdom bonus is +0, it's much simpler to remember "Your opportunity attacks disrupt movement." and moving around too much as the defender seems like a poor idea anyway.

Finally got around to doing some Ritual stuff!

http://pastebin.com/N85zhPtv

Just sticking with official rituals for now. Everything under the Important header, I've assumed Quentyn has gone ahead and purchased and learned - hopefully that's fair, since we've had a lot of down time/travel time in the last few sessions and they only require 4 days to learn combined. A few others, I've marked as purchased, but not learned yet (and assume, unless I say otherwise, that Quentyn will be learning them in any downtime/travel time) and the rest are just a wishlist.

Also went ahead and bought myself a Bag of Holding, which is probably long overdue. >_>

I'm just here to post something barely relevant, then fade back into the shadows. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Superiority is godlike. I definitely recommend taking it over Agility. You can always take Agile Superiority to make it key off DEX too.

death temple?

Yeah, we paid a visit to the ex-temple of Edash, ex-temple of Sharon, now temple of Jack the Rabbit to see if his ascension had been formally recognized yet. Not quite, but it's a matter of time.

The Death of Bunnies (And Assorted Others) name ain't Jack. Still planned on lettin' Forget name him if she actually trains under him.

Still stayin' on hiatus this week, just sayin'.
