Never have, never will. My friends go crazy for it and I can never partake. I love trying new things, too, but new cuisine usually tends to be spicy. I just don't understand the sensation. It's literal PAIN. It's just pain- in my mouth. How is that enjoyable!? Someone explain this to me- and maybe explain how I can go about incorporating spicy foods into my palette so I can hopefully one day be able to get it along with everyone else.

Finally!! I have always expressed this exact same thing to all my friends who go and seek out spicy foods. I have a decent tolerance for spicy food, but only when it's necessary and definitely only for the flavor of the thing that's causing the dish to be spicy. I never go out with a craving for some spicy food.

It tastes really good.....I don't know how else to explain it. If it's too hot for you, you could try something less spicy, or try chewing it less.

How much you chew it actually makes a big difference. Also, grain products like rice, pasta, and bread are better at defusing the burning feeling in your mouth than water.

Also, I've recently noticed that unless something is warm (temperature wise), it won't be spicy to me.

I was eating at my parent's house about a month ago and my dad gave me these really hot peppers to put on my tacos.

I loaded it up and felt nothing while he was literally sweating and he's like a master of spice.

Then I heated one up and it melted my face off. I started paying attention to this at subsequent meals to test my theory.

I don't know how but my mouth is now immune to peppers unless they are heated up. And then...I'm in trouble.

Yeah, it just tastes good.

It does completely depend on what kind of spicy, though. I have gotten really sick of Thai food mostly because whenever I get it my friends are all like "omg you gotta get the hot stuff" so I get the hot stuff and it's alright, but most of the "flavor" is just heat without any substance, so they're like "omg you just gotta get hotter stuff" so I get hotter stuff and it doesn't taste any better. Like jeez you gotta have SOME other flavor than just hot.

Hey I'll use this topic to ask a question.

What's the name of this yellow spice that pretty much dyes everything it touches yellow? I've seen it on meat and some other thing and got it's the worst tasting this ever, not that spicy but the taste makes me want to punch babies.

I have no idea what's the name though.

Or Korean. Both can be amazing and hot in such a good and also different way. Like you have the "dry" hot of like crushed peppers of some variety, but this is more of a "wet" hot the way it sneaks in. Hard to explain, but just know that there are different varieties of spicy.

Hrmm I'm not sure I agree with this.

One of the most spicy things I have ever had came in the form of a chilled sushi dish that was just loaded.

As you have guessed I enjoy my spicy food. I'm super pale/white but I can put my hispanic friends in the ground when it comes to a heat off but with that said I don't NEED to eat spicy foods. Like if I'm out to eat I'm not going to pick the spicy thing on the menu just because its the spicy thing. I'll still pick whatever I happen to most feel like eating and sometimes its incredibly mellow, just as long as its tasty y'know? But when something is tasty AND spicy then I'm totally on board.

The worst. I've never had this experience with Thai food, but I have had it with hot sauces in other restaurants. For some reason this seems most common in green hot sauces, but I've never really known why.

Best heat is in indian food, because the spice is a consistent undertone to the flavors that you are tasting, while lingering at the end, unlike thai/asian food which is just a burst of heat at the end.

I've got problems with my sinuses, which prevents me from tasting food about half the time (unless I've just used some prescription strength nasal spray that'll last about 12 hours).

Spicy food tends to break through that and lets me taste the food as well as the heat.

Really strong flavors also get through, but it's the spicy stuff I love.

The hotter, the better.

As lame as it is to not like spicy food, I can at least respect people in this topic for admitting it. It's better than people who CLAIM to like spicy food and then they get spiced out by a little green Tabasco which is not even that hot, people, it just has a good flavor. Green Tabasco on fried chicken, now there's a good meal.

Same. I love finding new hot sauces. Pretty much everything I eat is spicy... It's the best kind of flavour to me.

Although I can handle any spice (that I've come across), I'm still super picky with my food and I honestly hate the taste of most things... like peppers for instance. I love spicy sauces and foods, but I will not even touch a green bell pepper (or whatever the mildest one is) I just find them disgusting.

Spicy food is fantastic.

You just need to man up and push through the initial waves of heartburn, then you'll be eating the the hottest Japanese curry that you can buy at the asian market in no time and pouring sriracha sauce over everything.

And yeah, Indian curry spicy is a lot more enjoyable than the Thai spicy. I'd say the closest I've ever been to spicy food hurting is from the local Thai place on campus. Their little pepper indication means absolutely nothing. They make it however spicy they feel like making it that day.
