I watch the reviews from IGN and gametrailers mainly, but that's mainly because they'll show the gameplay. And if I don't like what I'm seeing, I won't buy. In most cases Board 8 will have to approve of a video game before I buy it.

Brawl is like ZSS' breasts. Well rounded for casual players http://ib.skaia.net/image/32143.gif
Gametrailers reviews align with my own opinions on most games that it's pretty uncanny. I don't even know what they score games overall; I just love the things they love and find they things they find annoying equally annoying. So that site pretty much has the say on whether I check out most games or not.

Agreed that I'd take the opinions of fans over professional reviewers, nut I voted previews for videos. Pretty much, I know any consensus won't necessarily jive with my taste, so I don't use any reviews at all really.

No need to put professional in quotes. They are people who make a living by writing game reviews. They are by definition professional, regardless of what you think about their opinions. Also, they're just opinions, You find a professional reviewer (or website) who's tastes are similar to your own, and you take their views into consideration. I love the hell out of Giant Bomb and their staff, but I disregard everything they feel about the vast majority of games because outside of Vinny (who doesn't write reviews) their tastes don't match up well with my own.
Professional reviews are no worse than fan reviews and are often better simply because they at least have experience writing reviews and know the things worth writing about, as well as the fact of having played more games than the average person and giving them a better perspective.
I feel professional reviewers are more typically bound by some standards of what's expected from an industry release, where excellent but lower budget games or things a bit outside the mainstream often won't get reviewed fairly, compared to how fans would review it.
Like, they feel a need to compare everything a bit to all the AAA titles, often times. Might as well say "and here we're striking it down 15% because it isn't made by a multi-million dollar studio with hundreds of employees".
Like, when you have a bunch of stuff you factor in and graphics is one of the factors, and you're hating on the best a team of that size and budget could do, it's not really something I'm interested in reading.

Compared to the 2005 poll, the "Fan reviews" option is winning over "Professional reviews". In addition, the "Professional reviews" option is performing about 2% worse compared to last year.
