ARE YOU KIDDING ME

Robb AND Catelyn!

I ****ing knew something crazy was about to happen. **** the Freys.

The last thing I read was Arya dying but I doubt she actually did. I was really looking forward to that reunion. I also didn't really get what happened on the page before the title quote. Some lady grabbed one of the guys and he said "No" and thrn Catelyn felt some metal underneath some guy or something?

The part you didn't understand was Catelyn killing the mentally disabled Frey guy I think.

I got that part, I'm talking before anything happened. Like Cat knew something was about to happen.

I had a feeling it was going to happen. Robb has no POV chapters, Grey Wind knew something was wrong and then the one weird lady 'saw' it a few chapters ago.

But yeah, can't wait to see what happens next.

I completely called it in the chapters before it actually happened. It was just too much of a set up for betrayal >_>

Fun fact: I stopped reading the book for about a week about 20 pages before that happened, and my girlfriend (who'd already read it) practically turned insane knowing how close I was to the awesome without her being able to talk about it with me.

I think you are talking about "The Rains of Castamere". That song started playing before everything happened, and that song is famous because it is associated with the Lannisters, and thus Catelyn had reasons to figure out what was going on.

Yes, keep reading, the second half is indeed among the best in the series.

I'm pretty sure that this will be the ending of Seasons 3, since they are to split Storm of Swords into two different seasons.

"The Rains of Castamere" is pretty much the theme song of the Lannisters, yeah. So obviously, hearing that in the castle of the Stark's main allies might have been very disquieting, to say the least!

The part he's actually talking about was that one guy was being a massive dick and refusing to dance with the Mormont girl. I think she was being pretty forward with him and since he was secretly wearing chainmail underneath his clothes he didn't want to get too close with her, so he stormed out (or tried to). Cat went over to him because she sensed something odd was going on and went to grab him as he was leaving, and she felt that he was wearing armor on, which immediately made her realize that something was up. . . since normally you don't have your guys wear chainmail to a wedding.

Basically, once she realized they some of Frey's guys were armored she knew they had been betrayed.

Stiil, there are plenty more surprises and awesomeness in Book 3, which is the last book I've read, so it was worth it to keep reading. ^_^

Do you guys actually throw books or is that just an expression? I can't count the number of times I've seen people say that over the years in regards to the Red Wedding.

Everyone either literally throws the book or comes close when they read the Red Wedding. Personally, I came very close to literally throwing the book. I didn't, but I came very close. Also stopped reading for almost a week.

Can't WAIT for this scene in the TV series, though. It's going to be amazing.

But yeah, f*** the Freys, and f*** <man in pink cloak who shall remain nameless because it is highly probable Menji has not figured out who it is>. Hate them all. Catelyn was one of my favorite characters. (And Robb and co. were awesome, too, obviously, but GAWD I miss Catelyn.)

Yeah I can't wait for the ratings to tank either!

Arya is never going to see any of her family again. We're just going to have to accept it. My #1-most-looked-forward-to-scene of the series was Cat and Arya finally getting to see each other again.

Also I don't quite think ratings will tank after the Red Wedding. People said they were going to stop watching after Ned died, but the first season finale had the strongest ratings of all. People will come back to see what the f*** happens next.

I DO think they could potentially tank a bit later, but that's for different reasons I can't say here. (I actually typed them all up, too, but then I remembered I wasn't in the Book Spoilers topic on the Cable & Satellite Board.)

The ratings will run into trouble when the show gets ahead of the books. At 1 season per book, they can currently run through 2015, 2016 if the 6th book makes it out soon enough. But anyone who thinks the 7th book will be done early enough for them to adapt it into the 7th season for 2017 is just kidding themselves.

It took 11 years for the previous two books to come out, no way the last two get done in 6.

I heard that after this season, each book will have 2 seasons

Season 1: Book 1
Season 2: Book 2
Season 3-4: Book 3
Season 5-6: Book 4
Season 6-7: Book 5
Season 8-9: Book 6

This will put them up to 2020. Hopefully the last book will be out by then.

Such a cruel scene! Foreshadowing led me to expect bad things, maybe Robb and/or Cat being held prisoner at the Twins, but I was absolutely flabbergasted by what actually happened.

Keep reading. The latter half of ASOS is simply amazing, and definitely the best the whole series has to offer, which is saying something.

They've only said book 3 will have 2 seasons, but they'll gradually move away from an even book/season ratio anyway.

I can see Books 4 and 5 having about a season and a half worth of content between them, honestly. I'm in that group of people that really loved Book 5 in particular, and there's a lot of stuff from that one I want to see, but on the whole, I have to admit that 4 and 5 can be condensed.

I believe only book 3 will have two seasons since it's the longest by a lot. Books 4 and 5 will probably be kinda mixed together but I doubt they'll run more than two seasons combined.

The reunion I wanted to see was Arya and Jon. The characters are all so scattered, I don't know how he can bring them together in the last two books. I guess he can just kill off a bunch of them. But it seems like Daenerys at least needs to meet up with two other specific characters because of the whole "the dragon has three heads" thing.

I haven't read the fifth book yet, but I always figured the title "A Song of Ice and Fire" heavily suggested that Jon Snow and Daenerys would meet up at some point, with him being the ice and her being the fire. Although I suppose it could still be the story in which they are the two most central players who still never meet.

Errr... Menji has not finished ASOS yet. Maybe we should make speculations about the last two books in another topic? There's nothing too spoilerific so far, but there's bound to be something, and even the little details can be quite revealing (such as XYZ character being still alive at X moment).
