It's that time of year again for everyone's favorite contest! This will be the third rendition of the contest as old as time itself. There are no cash prizes or rewards, just a lot of RPGs in a bracket, battling it out with your votes! Previous winners include Xenogears and Final Fantasy IX and that's it. Will one of them be able to reclaim the throne, or will another seek vengeance in this battle to the death? Only time will tell. But if you're pumped up now, just wait until you read the rules!

~RULES~
- You have 20 nominations to use. I'm not forcing you to use every spot, but I do encourage it.
- The bracket will almost certainly consist of 128 participants, so use them wisely.
- JRPGs, WRPGs, ARPGs, SRPGs, MMORPGs, etc... They all count! So long as they ARE RPGs.
- For the first time EVER, I will be allowing Zelda II and the Metroidvanias, as well as anything else that may have had a sketchy eligibility.
- Remakes such as Pokemon FR/LG and Persona PSP can count, but ports such as SoA Legends and P3P won't.
- If you have any questions about eligibility, just ask.
- No cheating or rallying please. This is a small contest so you literally should barely care about it.
- There's no set end date on nominations, it mainly just depends on interest level.
- If I missed anything, tell me ASAP so that I can hopefully epit the OP.

I've always considered System Shock 2 an FPS RPG, albeit more the former than the latter.

Though, I gotta say, if Metroidvania titles count, then pretty much anything where your character becomes stronger should, like Mega Man. I certainly wouldn't think of River City Ransom or Double Dragon 1 as RPGs, but they would fit that criteria.

The Metroidvanias are entirely stats-based though, which is primarily what makes something an RPG.

You're really sending mixed messages there, tazzy. First you say Metroidvanias are allowable, and then you say one of the series that gives that subgenre its name isn't eligible. Are other Metroid games allowed? And if not, then where exactly is the line on the matter? Any game that has an explicit character sheet with numerical statistics that are presented to the player?

Whatever. Replace Super Metroid with Quest For Glory: So You Want to Be a Hero. (Am willing to make this any other member of that series if somebody else has a favorite.)
