I know some people like Corsola, but I just can't understand why. It's ugly, has bad stats, bad, redundant typing, I'm just not seeing any appeal here. I guess it just goes to show that IRL we have a ton of animals and objects related to the water, so we get a huge excess of water types.

Such an ugly pokemon, and then they try to entice you to catch one with The Regis? That's not very enticing at all. As I said with Corsola, it's typing is crap. There's, what? 5 Water/Rock type families by now? I get the whole "fossils are rock" thing, but it's kind of dumb logic, and if they're going to use that, don't make non-fossils water/rock. Relicanth can't have been intended to be used by anyone.

It's literally got ugly in the name. We already had a good cat pokemon, why give us a crappy ugly ass one? Glameow is even OK, it's just this fat ugly thing that sucks. I even like fat cats IRL, so potentially I could have liked it if it weren't Roseanne Barr in cat form.

364.Sunflora


I really don't find anything appealing here, though it's not for any justifiable reasons. Sunflowers are really as far as flowers go and, IIRC Sunkern is tied for weakest pokemon in the game, yet somehow I doubt Sunflora got the Gyarados treatment. There's a ton of unnecessary grass types in the game and although without it some may be saying "We should have a sunflower" pokemon I find nothing appealing about it.

I don't think it's tied, I think it just is the weakest Pokemon. And interestingly enough, it's the only Pokemon that can max out every Pokeathlon stat.

As for Sunflora, I don't mind it. I remember using one in one of my GSC files and it seemed to do alright.

363. Gorebyss


Man, screw this thing. I wasn't willing to buy a Ruby or Sapphire, so my Pokedex sat at one from complete forever that gen. If you're going to make me jump through too many hoops for a Pokemon, at least make it a good one. This thing looks like someone was sick at Gamefreak one day, spilled their pepto and their boss said "oh is that the design you were working on? Yeah it can evolve from a clam for no reason" And I don't want some IRL bio explanation for this thing evolving from a clam. I guess for some reason they wanted all the ugly ass pokemon to be useless too. I don't think I've rated anything yet that's not in NU tier. I guess some of them might fill a niche, but I don't really care enough to go into that deep an analysis.

Yeah, more Monkey Trio hate. I know some people like it, but I am not among them. I guess if Cylan evolved his Pansage it may turn out ok (haven't been keeping up with the anime, so if it's happened, sorry), but I doubt it'll happen since apparently evolving Pokemon via stone is "evil". This thing is ugly. It's like if Daryan from Apollo Justice were a green monkey...



It's also another NU Pokemon, and a grass type to boot. It fails to impress me on any level.

I try not to dock points for being blatant ripoffs, but I just can't help it with Plusle. It's basically identical to Pikachu except in terms of usefulness and nostalgia. I also feel like if i didn't know Minun existed, I would think Plusle worked for a hospital, but maybe that's just me looking for more reasons to hate it. For some reason, Gamefreak has the habit of making new battle systems (Double, Triple, Rotation), but doesn't really change the game much for Pokemon and moves that are specifically made for them. Considering that Plusle and Minun were designed for double battles, you'd think they would be a force to be reckoned with. But no, pretty much anything with Earthquake stomps the pair. Of course, Plusle gets Plus and no dreamworld ability, which only serves to further diminish it's usefulness.

360.Minun


Same mechanical complaints as Plusle, but I like it's design a little more since at least it's color scheme is a little different than Pikachu's. I had a thought at one point that a purple electric mouse with a neutral charge would be a baby version, and would evolve based on having Plus or Minus, so I'm really glad Gamefreak didn't run with that idea.

359. Jumpluff


Make a pokemon based off a dandelion? Come on this is what they resorted to in gen 2? We didn't get an ant until gen 5 FFS. It would probably be more offensive to me than Sunflora if it didn't have flying type. I'm not sure why, but novel type coverage is pleasing to me. Considering that Jumpluff was the first Grass/ Flying type, it buffs it a little above a pure grass type, but not by a whole lot. Even though it's novel, it's not a particularly good typing. Immunity to ground, when grass already takes half damage from it, doesn't make up for taking x4 from ice, x1 from electric, and x2 from rock.

I know a lot of people like Golurk, but I don't like it mostly due to typing. It's Ghost/Ground, but that's not at all the impression I get from it. He looks rock or steel to me. I know it's backstory is that it's a haunted suit of armor, but isn't most armor made of metal or at least leather? What part of it is ground? I'm probably still just butthurt about my first encounter with one (or Golett rather). I was using Gurdurr at the time, and I had it use a fighting move, "It doesn't affect Golett". Ah, so it's a ghost type, doesn't really look like it, but I can give it a pass. Go Zebstika, use Wild Charge. "It doesn't affect Golett" WTF. I don't like to spoil myself too much on the games before they come out, so I had no idea about it's typing, but I could have accepted Ghost/Steel or Ghost/Rock.

I was playing White and didn't really understand how the moving grass stuff worked. I hated Throh and Meinfoo isn't until pretty late in the game. I like to have a fighter because they have pretty badass type coverage.

These would be good points if it looked like it. My first guess was suit of armor (steel)my second guess would have been statue (rock). I would have never guessed clay. Ceramics are incredibly fragile.

Wow, it really is based entirely off of it. I dunno, it just pissed me off once. I also don't think it's very ghosty. All the other ghosts except maybe Jellicent and Shedinja have a certain ghost-feel to them. Maybe I'm being harsh, but I'm just not a fan.

Huntail is pretty damn ugly and bad at identifying ladies. All the mehanical complaints can be found in my Gorebyss writeup. I think it's ugly, but not as ugly as Gorebyss did not insult me as much as anything in between, so here it sits. I'm probably going to get **** on for this opinion too, aren't I? ;_;

I mean I love Masquerain and can't fathom how it gets so much hate even with its typing issue.

I mean Mothim is the nth moth pokémon, nth Bug/Flying, has a less interesting design (IMO) and movepool and people like it better for some reason.

357. Cresselia


The first semi-useful Legendary on the list. It's in the BL2 tier, so let's not get carried away about it's usefulness, but it's certainly better than Regigigas and Phione. I really don't care for Cresselia's design at all. I guess it's based on something, but when I first saw it (admittedly as a very small sprite) I thought it was a mobius strip. It's just a weird, rainbow duck thing, I don't get it. For some reason, it has a story that it can cure Darkrai's Nightmares, so the psychic typing doesn't make much sense to me. Making it Bug or Fighting would make even less sense, but I don't know, just something that Dark isn't immune to would have been nice.

When I made the list, I gave each pokemon a rating, 0-10, and sorted them based on those groups. Cresselia marks the highest ranked 0 rated on the list.

I think Nikki Minaj made a song about Jynx. It's so ugly, pseudo-racist, and pretty useless. Jynx was originally part of the pseudo-trio with Electabuzz and Magmar and even Gamefreak said "Yeah, Jynx isn't getting an evolution with the others." I remember when I was a kid, I thought I was going to try to catch all 150 on all three gen 1 games. Then my dreams were shattered when Yellow needed to trade with R/B to get it and Jynx was obtained via in-game trade. It's also yet another NU (probably due to ice typing, which unfortunately gets screwed a lot). Also Zynx is a really dumb name for a Jynx. It's almost as bad as Pekachu.
