8. Cow and Chicken (1997-1999)

Haters be calmed, the animal duo is finally out. Though I really can't understand why it's getting so much hate. The show was actually pretty funny, and reminds me of another show that I have fond childhood memories of. That's right, you got it, this show was Cartoon Network's answer to Ren and Stimpy, and it shows. A lot. Both shows star an anthropomorphic animal duo who exist in a world primarily inhabited by humans. Ren and Chicken are both small and scrawny, sarcastic and quick-tempered. Stimpy and Cow are both big and fat, dumb and lovable. Both shows were considered edgy for their network/timeslot/TV-Y7 rating, and both had multiple episodes yanked from syndication. And both shows were pretty damn funny. Maybe it's because C&C reminds me so much of R&S that I like it so much and am surprised more people don't feel the same way. I can totally understand the people saying that it doesn't belong above Dexter, but putting it below Billy and Mandy or Mike Lu and Og would be a travesty by all stretches of the imagination. Oh and by the way, I recently saw the banned "Buffalo Gals" episode for the first time and after all these years of waiting I wasn't that impressed. I can totally see why it was banned but that if anything detracted from the episode. I think I like the fake banned episode better. I'm not posting it here because it is incredibly offensive, but search for it on Youtube. You'll probably crack up laughing.

Best Character: The Red Guy

Cow and Chicken faced a great number of pantsless, ambiguously gay devil-like villains, but they were collectively known as The Red Guy. And he was awesome. End of story.

Worst Character(s): Flem and Earl

Chicken's stupid best friends that were just the stooges of the show.

I don't hate Cow and Chicken, but I find it to be one of the weaker shows, and when I watched some it today, it was not the same as back then, and the same goes for I Am Weasel.

Yeah, the C&C hate is something I don't understand. I love that show. The Red Guy is awesome.

I'd still put Billy and Mandy over it, though. B&M is at least in the top three for me. I know I'm in the minority with that opinion, lol.

7. The Powerpuff Girls (1998-2009)

I have a weird opinion of this show, because back when I was big on Cartoon Network (2001-2003), I was about 12 to 13 years old, right around the time when I looked at this show and thought that it was just for girls. I did watch it more often than I thought I would, though, and actually enjoyed it when I did watch it. Obviously, anybody who knows me could tell you without even asking me that my favorite episode is "Meet the Beat-Alls," in which the villains team up to form a supergroup of villains, and the entire episode is laced with Beatles puns (my favorite band). The show is actually pretty fun, and I may add it to my DVD collection someday. There's almost nonstop action, the interaction between the characters is pretty funny, and the animation is superb with vibrant colors. Obviously the demographic that really latched onto the show was pre-teen girls, but the creators intended it mainly for teenage anime fans, boys and girls alike, and it definitely shows.

Best Character: Buttercup

It was really tough for me between Buttercup and Mojo Jojo, but in the end I decided that Mojo could get a bit annoying at times, whereas Buttercup is awesome and badass absolutely every second she is on screen.

Worst Character: Fuzzy Lumpkins

It's funny, because on reality shows I tend to love dumb hillbillies, but in fiction, especially cartoons, I tend to hate them.

I kind of liked PPG as a kid, but I really started to appreciate it when I watched the entire DVD set a couple years ago. It's a really good show. (Though the last couple of seasons are a serious downgrade in quality)

My favorite episode (even though it doesn't really "count") is that tenth anniversary special McCracken did. I laughed so hard when I watched that.

6. Samurai Jack (2001-2004)

This is another one I'm going to catch a lot of flack for its lowness, but hear me out. It seems to me, and I've been told, that the best way to appreciate this series is to watch it from beginning to end, which, sadly, I have not (I may pick up the DVDs over the summer, but I've already got a lot of other shows/seasons lined up, so I may not get to it). But look, 6th place ain't bad, especially when you consider the quality of at least four of the shows that beat it out (a lot of people will consider Sheep being in the top 5 a huge upset). This show is almost pure action, and has by far the least dialogue of all Cartoon Cartoons (in fact, it is actually not technically a Cartoon Cartoon, but I included it in the list because it came during the Cartoon Cartoon time period). And while the action is great, sadly, having only two staple characters who hardly ever interact leaves very little in terms of comedic value, setting it apart from the other 15 shows on this list, all of which were primarily comedies, except maybe PPG. But this series served great as a serial and I'm sure that once I watch the series from beginning to end, it will "good jump" above my #5 and maybe even my #4. But for now it has to sit just outside the top 5.

Best Character: Samurai Jack

Normally silent (though superbly voiced by Phil LaMar when he does speak), the hero shows a surprising amount of character for a show that is primarly based on action alone.

Worst Character: ...........
I... really can't give this award out for this show. Jack and Aku are really the only two staple characters and are both awesome. The next most prominant character, The Scottsman, only appears in a handful of episodes, and even he is pretty cool.

I would've put Samurai Jack lower. I didn't hate it, but I never really got into it as a kid. I also never watched it from beginning to end, so maybe that's the problem.
