let's just give Urabe the award for best female this season already. this is so far a perfect rendition of the manga early on and has an absolutely fantastic soundtrack to go with it. seriously, i love the bgm.

Watched all the second episodes, might as well do an early ranking of the season (ignoring stuff I dropped).

1. Fate/Zero 2 - Started out with an amazing climax, and should continue that way, considering how many people it has left to kill in the remaining 11 (10?) episodes.

2. Mysterious Girlfriend X - First episode was mostly great, but I wasn't sure they'd be able to keep up the quality after its fast pace...and they totally did with the second episode. Awesome show.

3. Zombie 2 - Sarasvati is awesome. That is all.

4. Lupin - Feels like it's gonna be a good but not great show. Kinda reminding me of Golgo 13 with its feel and style.

5. Upotte! - Second episode was pretty fun, and confirmed teacher as a minor character rather than a protagonist. Nice to finally have a solid cute girl slice of life show after so long without one.

6. Saki A - Second episode was better than the first, regaining some of that epic Saki feel and going through the boringer parts pretty quickly. Good times.


And...that's it. Literally only watching 6 shows augh this season where are my episodic showz (guess I'll just have to wait for AKB48 to come along and save anime) (guess it hurt that I dropped five series too).

I don't feel like ranking stuff right now but there wouldn't be much changes. All the shows I started since then have been good and I dropped Ozuma even though there's only two episodes left. I'm just watching too many shows. This season has been amazing so far.

IMO it's not worth it. I dropped it after two episodes. I don't even know why the main characters in the show are important, and the ova or whatever it is was 1/3 over.

But this season has been pretty good. xD at all of us for saying it'll be a bad season.

Too late, already started, I figured if I just watch 1 episode a day I'll have it done by Saturday when it ends.

More first impressions:

Accel World - Really bad MC but everything else seems at least below average. Could be an early drop.
Nyaruko - Not terrible I guess. Could also be an early drop, but it's shorter so we'll see.
Jormungand - Surprise of the season. That was amazing.
Apollon - Pretty fun. Shame I'm not a jazz fan though.
Sankarea - This was decent. There aren't too many shows about necrophilia, so it's a refreshing show. Could see this being pretty funny too.
Tsuritama - I really like this one. It's sort of reminds me of Penguindrum with it's obscurity, humor, and possible plot direction.

Finished Mirai Nikki. Whoo, 200th anime TV series completed!

And the anime ending didn't include the WTF-inducing part that manga had at the very end.

But aside from that part the ending itself, from what was shown in the anime, wasn't as bad as I thought.

Finished Mirai Nikki. Absolutely amazing adaptation...probably the best I've ever seen. Blows the original away in pretty much every way, and becomes one of my favorite anime. Was quite happy with how they reduced the importance of Akise and the other dumb kids, and made pretty much every character better. Great ending episode too.

The tone of Dusk Maiden 2 wasn't really where I expected to go but I guess it could get darker still. Yuuko is so moe.

Also, dropped Nyaruko. I don't think it's bad but I don't have time to waste on these nobody shows.

Caught up on all the Spring stuff so I guess I'll tier/rank them by how much I like them.

Best of the Season

Mysterious Girlfriend X - Before it aired I was worried the studio would ruin it, but they've done an amazing job adapting it so far. Urabe's voice is really great too and I like the OP/ED she sings. I'm really looking forward to seeing more.

Space Bros - I really like the way the show presents itself. Mutta, Kenji and Serika are great. This show has had a really strong start and I hope it keeps the same quality.

Zombie S2 - I really missed this series so I'm glad it got a sequel even though it's only 10 episodes. The OP and ED are great though I think I like S1's ED more. I'm not really fond of the drunk character, but Ayumu, Haruna and Yuki are still great.

Lupin 3 Fujiko Mine - The visuals are really stunning and there's a lot of style in it. Jigen is a badass and what I've seen of Fujiko and Lupin has been great too. I'm glad I decided to pick it up.

Sankarea - This has been surprisingly enjoyable and I like the cast. Chihiro seems like a pretty decent main so far and Ranko (cousin) is great. The visuals are also worth mentioning since I've never seen a Studio DEEN show that looks this good.

Jormungand - Only one episode out so far, but the action was great and Koko's pretty cool. She can take hits like a champ and throw fits that would make kurtfisto envious. Seems like it'll be a contender my action packed show of the season.

Zetman - It feels like a lot is being blown over to get to the meat of the story, but it's been enjoyable and easy enough to follow. The action is great even though some of the gore is censored. I'll likely start the manga soon since I've heard it's better.

Pretty Good Stuff

Kuroko's Basketball - Decided to give this a shot and I don't regret it even though it might go on for years. Kuroko (MC) is literally a nobody to the point where people don't even know if he's around or not. Taiga is a badass raging slam dunking machine and Riko is a female coach instead of being a manager aka dead weight. This could compete with Area no Kishi for my favorite sports anime.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - The differing perspectives in the first episode was really neat, but the second episode wasn't too great despite being ok. I hear the story gets serious so I'm curious to see where it goes. I don't really think either of the MCs are great, but thankfully Momoe and Kirie seem like they'll be entertaining to make up for that.

Saint Seiya Omega - Another show I wasn't going to watch at first, but decided to anyways. The visuals are really awesome and give the show some style. It'll probably go on forever, but I'll try to follow it.

Tsuritama - This wasn't what I expected it to be, but still had an interesting start. There's only one episode so far, but I feel like it's going to get really interesting. I like how the visuals are used (literally drowning in social anxiety was pretty neat.) and I feel like the show could go almost anywhere,

Sakamichi no Apollon - I like the music and the drummer guy is pretty cool. The main guy's walk towards the end was great.

It means I actually like Urabe because she's nice. She's weird, but she's a nice girl. Senjougahara on the other hand always sounds like she's talking down to everybody. Senjougahara literally has no positive traits at all imo, but I don't really need to mention that I hate her again because everybody already knows it.

Decent, But Nothing Special

Eureka 7 AO - The first episode looked really good at least. The Infinite Stratos-like description to the series still has me worried. I guess if nothing else it'll at least look great due to BONES.

Upotte! - It's mildly amusing and the second episode even had some decent action. Episode 3 is a bath or hot spring episode so you know this is quality stuff.

Shining Hearts - For an adaptation of an RPG the entire first episode was basically about bread with a slice of life feel. It could be more interesting when something happens.

Folktales from Japan - Each episode has three folktales narrated with visuals sort of like a storybook or flash anime. I'm going to follow it because I think it's interesting to hear about Japan's folktales.

Was Ok

Natsuiro Kiseki - The first episode was mostly moe girl drama and the second was mostly a long chasing scene. The wish aspect the rock in the show has could lead to some interesting stuff since this is Sunrise, but so far it just seems like it'll be moe girl adventures.

Rock Lee spinoff - The first half of the first episode was pretty bad, but the second half and second episode were decent. I feel like anime original comedy will ruin this show, but we'll see.

Kuro Majo-san - The first two episodes haven't been too bad and it's easy to follow since it's short.

Gakkatsu - The character designs have a weird charm and the idea of extreme debates is kind of interesting. If it was longer I'd probably drop it though.

Accel World Tier

Accel World - This show is so bad it deserves a tier all to itself. The only real positive are the visuals and the fights could be good, but the main character is one of the most pathetic characters I've ever seen. It seems like you're supposed to feel bad for him, but it's kind of hard to since the only downside to his life is being fatter than he is tall. He has friends, the hottest girl in school is into him and he can play a VR game all he wants with supposedly no real downside if he loses aside from not being able to play anymore. Everything he says is just so pathetic. I'll give it 1 more episode since the first two were basically a two part premiere.

Dropped

Polar Bear's Cafe - I really like the OP for this, but the show itself is boring.

Nyaruko-san - It's better than the flash series were, but I'm not really into it. It's not bad, but the comedy isn't very funny and Nyarlko is annoying. Too many great shows this season to follow boring show.

Ozma - I just couldn't get into and the designs were weird and somewhat distracting.

Acchi Kocchi - Seems like an ok show, but it's the weakest romance of the season so I see no reason to follow it.

Yurumates3D - It's really short and really boring.

Sengoku Collection - Brains Base could pull something off with this show, but the first episode was awful and even worse than I thought it would be. There's no way I could watch it all especially since I've heard it'll be 24-26 episodes.

I can't provide any thoughts on something so dumb. You should ask somebody else. Speaking of thoughts I might as well post some Sharin thoughts in the topic even though I already gave them to the only users who matter.

Ch1. - The introduction was really great and the only chapter I read all at once. Most of the characters were already great and I liked how the end of the chapter had a shift in tone.

Ch.2 - So many mixed feelings on this one. The Mana parts were great and the exploring stuff with Sachi was fun, but the last stretch was really annoying and a lot less enjoyable.

Ch.3 - This chapter was really amazing and had a lot of great comedy. All the dialogue exchanges between Kenichi, Isono and Touka were fun to read.

Ch.4 - So boring. The only interesting part is the last stretch and unfortunately before that this chapter was about as entertaining as Training with Hinako aka not at all.

Ch.5 - I felt like parts of this dragged on longer than they should have and some of the reveals/twists were a bit silly, but still cool.

Chapter Rankings: 3 > 1 >= 5 > 2 > 4 though really it's more like 3 > 1 > 2 (Mana) > 5 > 2 (Sachi) > 4

Character Rankings: Kenichi = Touka = Houzuki > Isono > Mana > Kyouko > Sachi > Natsumi > Ririko
