Time for a random appearance as I've been trying to watch anime in between breakdown after finals week and playing video games all the time since my school is over currently.

So far, of this season's stuff got this down.

Fate/Zero up to ep.4

Currently of all mage characters, only one that hasn't given me a reason to hate that person is Kariya. So... Character wise they are doing well at pissing me off.

Ao up to ep. 3

So frickin' slow. I remember how I dropped the first series on the first ep for a while because of artwork then resumed it so far later, but when I'm bored watching it and just want to see the explanation of all this, I can tell I'm not liking the anime that much.

Haiyoru! Nyaruko-san up to ep. 1

That would be all I got within these past couple days. So far one funny anime with a main character who is about as squeemish as I am. Minus I don't hide the fact that it's blood, I just squirm.

not surprised your opinion on Akira stayed the same since all the anime really did was add some filler episodes and changed the order of events around a bit

Wow, the recent F/Z was by far my favorite episode in the show so far. Makes me wish they had just started the series with that part. I probably would care about it a lot more.

Kimi to Boku 2 ED: Kimi to Boku no Banka
3/1. interesting.

Kimi to Boku no Banka - this is the kind of ED that you need to hear the full version of because the 1:30 doesn't do it justice. it's a relatively simple song, mostly the same couple chords being played on the piano for a while, but the voice works damn well, and the chorus is very catchy. it's a very relaxing song that grows on you steadily. the instrumental version is also superb because of the same reasons. just overall a very, very sweet song and the strings just kinda flow into it without you realizing it. it fits the anime well and is just a great song on its own right.

Mikazuki Knife - this is a lot more "normal" i guess, but even then it's... got a certain flair and style to it that makes the genre a bit hard to nail. if you're familiar with the Nodame Cantabile OPs and EDs, this basically sounds like it could come straight out of it. hell, not just this song but the entire album. the song's not at all bad, very much so enjoyable but not amazing. still good. and it's a grower. compared to the OTHER songs it's outclassed no doubt, but isolate it and you'll get to enjoy it. 7.5/10

Lalalai ~Hata Ben version~ - okay, now we're just plain messing around with music in a fun way. i looked for this on youtube to get a good idea of what it sounds like, and instead found the promo vids for this song. what were they? well...

kinda weird, but strangely fits. it's an upbeat jazzy tune that's fun. i'm not sure it's possible to dislike this song, it's just doing everything right. now will you love it? maybe, maybe not. but you can't hate it. the guy can sing and play piano damned nicely. the song by the way is a bit over 6 minutes, and half of it straight up is just some friggin' badass piano playing. i for one love the hell out of this. 9.5/10.

Instrumental of OP - look, it's great. aquire this CD somehow if you must. if you end up not wanting his voice, that's cool. fact is the instrumentation is fantastic and you should listen to this too.

Average: 9/10. calling it a Nodame Cantabile style CD should be enough.


Fate/Zero OP2 - To the beginning
2/1 split, just the OP gets an instrumental. KALAFINA RETURNS TO TYPE MOON. which is good because honestly their non-type moon music was so inferior to it that i was halfway wondering if it was the same group.

to the beginning - okay so it's not quite as good as the top level KnK stuff but it fits with the more mid-range stuff (which is still better than their non-KnK stuff, seriously not understanding why it only works with type moon right now). i'm actually not sure how to properly gauge this. i've heard it a lot. it's alright, catchy initially then... kinda is there? but still enjoyable? weird mix. can't see myself actively listening to this much but can see myself enjoying it when i do basically. think that'll put it at a 7/10.

Manten - this on the other hand i do enjoy more. not initially, to the beginning has a better hook, but this one just makes a much better use of the strings and it's better as a result. still not great, but an improvement. 7.5/10

Average: 7.25/10

It only took darkmac 2 weeks, but after 2 years, I have finally finished the first season of Gintama!

The show improves from like a 5-6 to 8/10 with a couple of 9/10 episodes. I would think that's pretty damn drastic, but overall I would say it was worth it. By the end it was pretty much one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, up there with School Rumble and Clannad. Not to mention that the show is often emotional as well, and when it pulls it off it's damn great. There were moments where I was literally just crying while laughing at the same time. If only they didn't always try to make their villains sympathetic, because it doesn't always work. Also this is probably like the only show in which I think the toilet humor is actually often hilarious. So many damn dick jokes and **** jokes but it's so random and ridiculous it's amazing. The characters were generally great, though I can't say I really love any of them.

I'm going to take a break from Gintama for a while, so I won't be starting the second season soon. The next show I'm going to take slowly is Kamichu! though that's not going to take very long since it's so short.

Who knows for sure. I wouldn't say it's guaranteed to continue. I haven't really seen anything other than negative reception for it so far. I wouldn't be surprised if NisiOsin's fans bought it like crazy though since it seems they'll buy anything regardless of the quality.
