it's never vocalized in another canonical source, I can accept that it was probably that way at nintendo since the original metroid, depending on how it's written it may even be very clear in the japanese version(zebeth?), but it's not like it was ever officially known to most of us

My favorite part of the Retsupurae of Other M was the part where Slowbeef is like "spoilers" then starts talking in Ridley's voice at the part with furby Ridley, and Diabetus is just like "I think I get what you're inferring but I have no idea how it's possible."

the sad thing is that the restupurae is starting to give me kind of a sick appreciation for other m, it's created something positive from the train wreck...

Well, I might appreciate Other M now in the same way I appreciate Darkseed II, but that doesn't mean I don't think both games are steaming piles of crap.

SSBB wouldn't necessarily indicate anything canonical, I know one of the arrangements was by kenji yamamoto who obviously is tied to the series pretty deeply, but that doesn't mean he was responsible or involved in that spoken word thing

anyone here know how it was written originally? from what I know of japanese seems to be more rigid about pronunciation so I'd think that would be definitive?
(still I'd concede that it was probably zeh bess from the beginning because it's not like sakamoto wasn't involved with those older games or anything, it'd be weird if he just suddenly changed it...)

the Japanese is pronounced something between Zaybesu and Zehbesu (it's an extended 'eh' sound). so not only not a long 'e', but an 's' sound rather than 'z'. though i've always said Zeebz.
