I saved the dude and then I stayed in Bastion

so, my thoughts on the game

I love the Narrative, I love the atmosphere, I LOVE the visuals. The music, oh my lord. The gameplay is good...

...buuuuut....I dunno....theres something missing. I didn't like it too much at first. I love Beat Em Ups, so its not gameplay

I love everything else...I just couldn't put my finger on it

but as I immersed myself in the story and into the world, It grew on me

This game is pretty damn good!

now time to get the other ending cause I'm OCD about being a completionist

Bastion isn't really amazing in the beginning. It grows on you very quickly though.

I know the end of all people happened

but the tone of the game was "WE'RE GONNA START ANEW. ADVENTURE! YEA"

kinda, at least to me


but then towards the end, the kid ends in like a week long rampage of death and genocide

they weren't animals, they were PEOPLE he was murdering

I know they declared war on Bastion, but I couldn't get that out of my head

they even scream when you knock them off over the edge!


but anyways, I got the other ending. everything started again, bastion is still being built, we don't know if history will repeat itself

I'll give it a 8/10

increase the spread, the damage, and give it a double shot

awww yea

and Give the pike damage boosts, quicker recovery for thrusts, increased criticals

and it doubles as a long range weapon

The Army Carbine was my second weapon. Increase aiming speed by a bunch and you can kill anything from any distance.

Trying new weapons rarely gets old really.

Is it weird that...I kinda describe the gameplay as a faster paced "Of Mana" game?

Nah, it's definitely comparable to Secret of Mana in some ways.

Also, mortar > all. I'd say they did a pretty good job of balancing the weapons and making them fun, but the mortar stands out as too powerful in my mind, while the dueling pistols without a turbo button are too weak.

My combo ended up being pike/mortar (armor piercing on the pike was pretty useful). I liked the scrap musket and army carbine as well though. By the way, did you do all the dream sequences? There's one in the DLC, though I think it's like $1 on the 360.

Also, the decisions at the end are pretty great, and I actually ended up having a long discussion with my roommate about them. That's one of the first times a game has prompted that from me.

and I didn't know there was a DLC one

Yeah, the DLC includes the dream sequence and some other stuff like score attack. It was free on steam, and I think the lowest they could charge on 360 ($1?).

The dream sequence is also like 30 waves.

real GotY 2011.

Homing Calamity Cannon is the most broken weapon in the game. I beat a huge part of the Stranger's Dream just by standing still in a corner and shooting repeatedly.
