I've always personally liked Genesis more, but I've finally come to realize this as true. There's just too many hidden Genesis gems like Alisia Dragoon and Ranger X.

I mean yeah, SNES has juggernauts like Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid and all backing it, but SNES is more a quality over quantity thing. Similar to N64 in it's respective generation. N64 had a solid, relatively small amount of REALLY good games, while Ps1 had a vastly large library of regular old good games.

So really it comes down to personal choice of quality versus quantity with SNES and Genesis, respectively.

But then again, Genesis had Blast Processing, so yeah it just wins by default.

The more I think about it, the more I think you're exactly wrong. SNES is chock full of tons of titles, but the Genesis lineup is (arguably) superior.

Final Fight 2 and 3 is a pretty low bar, same with Mystic Quest and Super R-Type and a bunch of those others

if you set the bar that low there's a lot more Genesis games to list. we start getting into stuff like Road Rash, Golden Axe, and E Swat for sure.

All of those games are plenty good. I could have added 30 more games or so if I wanted really mediocre stuff like Aladdin or Knights of the Round.

Also most good Japan-only games have translation patches or are playable without them, so I don't see why you're complaining.

Final Fight 2 and 3 is a pretty low bar, same with Mystic Quest and Super R-Type and a bunch of those others

Final Fight 2 and 3 are both very good. Not necessarily on par with Streets of Rage 2, but significantly better than the original and way better than stuff like Golden Axe.

Also if we're tossing Super R-Type we also have to toss a lot of the Genesis' shmups, and that's one of the few genres it genuinely rivals the SNES in.

Not at all. I've played and love stuff like Umihara Kawase and SOS. You willing to dismiss me so quickly shows how little confidence you have in your argument. God forbid Genesis might actually have more good games than SNES, right?

I'm actually doing a big list for both right now, and it's actually coming out pretty even in number so far. So I may have to rescind my original statement, but we'll see. Still working on it; I'll post it later.

And I'm trying to fit everything from Captain Tsubasa IV to Yuu Yuu Hakusho: Makyo Toitsusen, so just give me time.
