Well, if he didn't run away the ENTIRE TIME, it would be more tolerable. But he does run away the entire time. And it's very obnoxious. Meanwhile, everyone else gets whittled away by rock damage and AoE rocks and stuff. I actually had a good run until Mia was killed by one of the rock launchers. I didn't realize she was at 2 life and I already used my mounted guy's turn before I could rescue her. So yeah.
(BTW, I learned that mounted guys suck on this level.)

Get used to it; this pretty much sums up the entirety of Radiant Dawn. (They suffer a movement penalty indoors, giving them the same range as a non-mounted, non-magical unit. There are a hell of a lot of indoor levels, not to mention a few with cliffs, which the mounted units can't climb.)

PoR has very few levels where mounted units don't have a lot of advantages. RD brings them down to the level of everyone else.
Biscuit, are you trying to go up one side or are you splitting your units on each side? I don't know about everyone else, but I found it to be a lot easier if I only went up the left side. Then I went down the right and didn't have to worry about those rocks at all.

I remember I was able to lure him out with Marcia or Jill and get him to where an archer could use a Longbow on him. Just bring lots of vulneraries and I think you should be ok if you don't try rushing too much.

Okay! So this went better. I had Jill and Shinon pile on the damage and (since Shinon is a crit machine) I beat the boss quickly! And then Shinon gets hit with a crit and dies.
What the f*** is going on with this s***?
ANYWAY, I succeed the next time in a glorious fashion. The most clever soldier in the world tells us to EAT ROCK after the battle when Tibarn OPs and murders all of the troops in one move. So I guess Tibarn is with us now. And then we go see King Caineghis (seriously, what is that name?) And then the king starts telling Elincia how awesome she is for defeating everyone when the b**** has done s***. It's all Ike, baby. And then Ike tells important people (and Mist and Soren) about what happened with his father going crazay. Then we learn that Ashnard is going to summon a big evil thing and blah blah blah... stop them. Then Tibarn tells Reyson that Leann was kidnapped. OH NO!
So Ashnard and Black Knight are confident their army can win because Crimea is a motley crew that isn't organized. ...Even though they proceeded to take over their former land. And have currently taken out many of their top generals. I'm beginning to think there's a very good reason that Daein has been losing. There's strategy talk... and then Soren gives me the report. Nephenee was our MVP. Hell yeah girl.
I decided to check who has maxed out stats so far.
Ike is maxed out on Speed at 28. Rhys is maxed out on Skill at 22. Marcia is maxed out on Strength at 23. Astrid is maxed out on Speed at 27.
Huh. Anyway, Support Convos! I got Ranulf and Ike's A one coming right up! Ranulf is freaking out because of CREEPY AURAS. Ranulf is upset he let Ike see him in this state, and then they get into a conversation about trust.
"I trust you, Ranulf." "You say that with such a straight! Face! Ike, you're..." "I'm what?" "Dumb."
XD I love Ranulf.
And now we hear from Nephenee and Calill! Calill is wondering why Nephenee is being so unfashionable and tells her that it must be because of her country accent. And Calill knew... a friend who was the same.
"You know about that? But you're from the city and so..." "Elegant? Yes, indeed. Quite so."
lol Calill is awesome. She wants to make Nephenee more pretty because it will make her miss the city. She'll even show her how to put on make up. SQUEEEEE MAKEOVEEEEEEEEEER!
Anyway, info convos. We talk to a soldier who wants to know if he should run away from fights he can't win. Ike says "Yeah, if you're sure." And then we realize the soldier is stupid. Then Tibarn says that he's taking off. ...Thanks bro. And Reyson is emo and unsure of himself (BE SURPRISED). Ike is now level 17 too.
Hopefully this next chapter won't frustrate me.

Pfffffhahahaha WHAT!? Elincia wants to fight? Are you serious? Everyone is like lolno, but Elincia wants to. Aaaaahahahaha. WAIT I HAVE TO USE HER WHYYYYYYY!? Just.... WHY!? Well, at least I can use 19 units so she isn't taking up a valuable spot.
So I have to use Ike and Elincia (ugh). And then I decide to use Rhys, obv. Then... Ranulf, Jill, Marcia, Calill, Bastian, Nephenee, Mia, Shinon, Boyd, Gatrie, Kieran, Oscar, Astrid, Volke. Uh... and I get two more. And, uh... I got two more spots. And you guys said I was using too many people! I'll bring MY GIRL Ilyana back. And... I dunno, Reyson. Sure.
I guess the main badguy, Bertram, is a snake or something. I dunno. And then Volke gets one shotted by a crit from a random soldier with the Killing Edge. Come the f*** on.

Elincia would be fine...if she didn't join so late in the game at level 1 and with poor str, magic and defense to boot. I guess she's the game's Est equivalent. But yeah, just stick with healing if you use her (though you really don't)
I like this chapter, though. It's the calm before the storm.
I use Elincia as a back up healer since most of the last few levels give you more than usual units.
She's amazing in Radiant Dawn though.
EDIT: Also are you sure that you don't have to use Elincia in the final chapter? I just replayed the game last week and I'm fairly sure I remember that you have to.
Granted, I didn't want to remove her, though, so I might not have been paying attention.
So this went smoothly. I don't have much to say since it was pretty straight forward... but I managed to crush everybody in my way! GO ME! I had Ike crit kill Bertram who wanted Ike to kill him anyway. I had some nice level ups and I think almost everyone had a level up this chapter. So kudos to that. It was a nice and chill chapter, and I quickly learned my lesson to use ranged attacks on any f***ers with a Killer weapon.

Think about it. By this point, Ike and the Crimean force have assembled into a destructive power. Now, what does Ashnard want? War, turmoil, destruction. And what better way to achieve that than by leading them into one giant, cataclysmic battle.
Also, Ike should be level 20. I would use bonus exp. Oh, and good luck.
So Tibarn drops by and says that the Black Knight is around. WHOO BOY! Soren gives us the report and it looks like Ike is the MVP. I can dig it. And the first thing I do is give Ike the last two levels he needs! He's maxed out at Speed, Strength, Skill, and Defense. So hoorah for him. Then I level Gatrie, Volke, and Ilyana to level 8.
And a second support convo... for Volke and Bastian! Volke and Bastian are buddies and Bastian has some good info I guess. Bastian says that his doubts about Ike and Volke are put to rest, to which Volke says "How kind of you."
"Bastian?" "Yeeeees?" "You're well suited to skulking behind the scenes and playing the puppeteer."
Haha. Volke asks him if he wants to change careers, but Bastian says his loyalty lies with Crimea. Alrighty then! Then only one info conversation. Weak. And then Ike just tells Titania about how Greil died. They talk about how Ike shouldn't die trying to fight him... and... I guess that's it for this pre-battle shenanigans.
PS - I get that Ashnard is all "Wooooah I want calamity!" But that's dumb for the leading general in an army. Like, if he was just one of the sub-generals, I think it'd be fine. But this dude leads an entire country of people and somehow gets to that level of power and has all of these people under him. I dunno, I think it'd be fine if he were on the level of, say, Petrine or someone... but this dude is putting calamity before the success of his country which I find very silly. I don't care for him as a villain.

Ashnard doesn't give a damn about Daein, he could be the king of Daein as much as he could be the king of, say, Kilvas and it'd be all the same. All he wants is power, and he thinks that the biggest power that he could get comes from the direct consequence of calamity.

Daein is a crappy nation that could disappear as soon as Sanaki ordered so lol, there's not much power in that.
Calamity per se isn't Ashnard's goal, if you've followed the plot, there's a direct consequence that comes from trying to bring conflict to the entire continent. That's the power that he seeks.

So Mist needs to talk to Ike during their battle meeting and Elincia is too sick to even be in a battle meeting. But we are trusting her to fight with a sword on her paladin. Oh, Elincia. And we learn that Mist interrupted this important battle meeting to have another sappy "LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH IT SUCKS THAT OUR MOM AND DAD DIED!" talk with Ike. I'd probably care more about this if I cared about Mist at all. LOL Elincia lied about feeling sick so Mist could talk to Ike right now!? What the hell!? She cares about Ike and Mist and blah blah blah...
Black Knight talks to a dude named Hafedd. Black Knight puts Hafedd in charge while he talks to Ena. So And NOW we're ready. Wait, only 11 people again!? Arrrrgh. Well, let's go back to our standard... Ike and Rhys. Then Volke for thievery. Then Ranulf, Jill, Calill, Gatrie, Boyd, Shinon, Mia, and... Kieran, for a second axe user. I feel bad I don't have a second magic user but... we'll see.
I had A LOT of crappy level ups. However, everyone leveled up a lot! So yay for that! It was easy when I got everyone bunched up and cleared the map together. No real problems, but I took it slow eventually as Volke was stealing everything. And then I even stole an Occult from the boss (because I figured I'd not get it if I didn't.) I killed the boss by attacking with the top tier fire attack from Calill and then a snipe with Shinon followed by a Tomahawk from Boyd. And then I had Boyd finish him off after that. Goooo team.
Ike then tells us that he's going ahead to face the Black Knight! And then Soren wants to join, but Titania is like "BELIEVE IN IKE" and he is begrudgingly cool with it. So Nasir and Ena are lovers and Ena tells Black Knight to just kill her and tell Nasir she's sorry. Black Knight says he will, then cuts her down. But somehow this big hulking badass screwed up on killing her with his giant weapon. Not quiet sure how that works! AND THEN MIST COMES RUNNING IN!? What is wrong with my entire army that they could not keep this dumb b**** from running in and ruining Ike's awesome moment?
Wait, I have to fight him!? Oh god. Luckily Ike hits two of his Aethers that manage to take him down, even though this f***er hit a crit on me. So Ike took down DA BLACK KNIGHT'S CANDY ASS and then a trap is sprung. Nasir then runs in out of nowhere. Then everyone runs. Oh, the castle collapsed. That's a bumski. Then Titania praises Ike AND Mist. Really? Praise that brat for waving around a staff? Yeah, she's really awesome. Ena and Nasir are fine now, I guess. Nasir is Ena's grandfather I guess. lol Anyway, Ike lets him stick around and doesn't stick his sword in him if he helps out, so yay.
-Recruit Stefan in Ch. 15, then talk to him in the Info menu between battles, and he'll give you an Occult.
-Chapter 21, Tauroneo has one just recruit him with Ike and the scroll will come with him.
-Chapter 27, the boss in that chapter will drop it.
You probably missed the one on the ship, the one where you get Astrid and Gatrie. I guess ultimately it doesn't matter who the last one goes to, it should be someone you use a lot, and not a healer.

You would be wrong, as I specifically made note of what it did in my game last week. Mia had 4 uses left on a brave sword, used astra, killed an enemy in 3 hits, and had 1 use left. In PoR.
EDIT: In fact, I just double checked and loaded up an earlier save and sent Mia into a bunch of enemies. 17 uses on a silver sword. Astra activated. Enemy died, 15 uses on the silver sword remaining.
So, with five hits, at half damage each, you get slightly less damage than a critical hit. And you've burned five uses off of a Killing Edge, Brave Sword, or Vague Katti, just for less damage than a critical. I think I would take any skill in the game, even useless ones like Miracle, over Astra.
At least those don't actively hurt you to use them.
