From: Rad Link 5 | #115 The UFC PPV that weekend was Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua. Not exactly a world beater from a buyrate standpoint. Now don't get me wrong, it was the fight of the year, and that show kicked all sorts of ass, but it's not exactly something I would run in fear from if I was WWE. It only barely outdrew Survivor Series too, 290K buys vs. 281K. Oddly enough, Cena (when Edge cashed in on him) has a legitimate beef though.
He won his WWE Championship on SmackDown, and that particular MitB was only good on a Raw World Title. Cena then got drafted to Raw and then months later dethroned by the cash-in. If they claim they're "back and never leaving" yeah, I sure am.
I literally got up and started to pull my hair out. Honest to goodness, this is the most frustrating aspect of this whole thing, and it's why I don't want to be a wrestling fan anymore. Common sense to me says that when The Rock said that, he meant that he was going to be a part of wrestling again. Not for one second did I think it meant he was going to become a regular competitor, and not once did I feel "betrayed" when he left again. To me, this seemed obvious, but apparently to other people they thought something else. And that's what frustrates me: why would anyone think otherwise? Why would someone think that The Rock, WHO WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF FILMING A NEW MOVIE, would suddenly drop everything to wrestle on a regular basis? I don't begrudge Rock going Hollywood. Just have the stones to admit it. Come out and say, "Sorry guys, but I'd rather do these other things that wrestle right now. Maybe someday that'll change." and maybe then I'll respect you. Welp, I'm two for two now. You're going to make me bald, Muffin. You want The Rock, in his first appearance on RAW in years, to come out and say "Yeah, I'm not feeling the wrestling thing." Why is hard to believe that The Rock loves both, but has a greater love and focus for one? Why is it that The Rock choosing Hollywood is such a huge slight and that it's impossible for The Rock to love the wrestling business as well. And I think deep down that's why the "never leaving again" remark, misconstrued or not, is such a sticking point.
That magical night where Rock returned and cut that amazing promo, after laying the smacketh down about how much things suck now, it came across like he was saying that now HE'S back to set things right. And then he never did. So basically he just called us all fools for watching a (supposedly) inferior product. And yeah, I wish he would still come back and wrestle more often, but even if he can't, like I said earlier, I would even settle for some more frequent via satellite promos, just to say something or comment about ways the product can be better if he feels that strongly about it. -- Thank you, Eddie Guerrero. http://bryandanielson.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/photo3.jpg ...
