As long as it's like MGS1-4 and not like Peace Walker, I'm good.

Peace Walker was a fun game, but it was nowhere near as good as the main four. And I do love Big Boss, but I can't say that I enjoy the storylines from the pre-2000 games nearly as much as Shadow Moses and beyond.

Though The Boss is arguably the best character in the series, or at least top 5.

To be fair, it was more so about Solid Snake from 1987 through 1998 (or 2001), and back again in 2008. At most they're co-stars. Ha, but anyyyways I feel Snake vs Big Boss is my pet peeve and seems to be in all threads since MGS3, as much as I love MGS3.


But on what matters, hell yeah I'm pumped for more Metal Gear.

I mean, Big Boss is one of the best characters in anything ever, but now he's going to have as many games as Snake, which just seems kinda weird. The more they try to cram in, the greater the risk of the awesomeness becoming dilluted. They pulled it off excellently in Peace Walker, though, so I'll eagerly await our first glimpse at this.

For me in the case of Peace Walker it is a bit diluted, with bits of brilliance shining here and there like the epilogue speech.

For me the perfect next MGS game would be set further in the future and star new characters, original ideas, new stuff, new era, etc.

But at the end of the day any MGS game by Kojima Productions is gonna be worth getting excited for.

Now, I love the speculation train and it's great it's going, but I'll say: can we be 100% sure already that the next game will star Big Boss? Having him in the ads, especially the I Want You poster, could be because he's one of the mascots of the series.

I'm not sure what we should make of the screen with the guy with the ponytail, but I'm not sure that guy is Big Boss. (Granted he does seem to have either a pony tail or just mullet scruff in the Shinkawa art)

If this game isabout Big Boss, is there really a place that the story would fit well?
MGS3 covers his main story, and his coming to be the "hero" that he is.
Peace Walker covers the rise of Outer Heaven.
MG1 covers the fall of Outer Heaven, and MG2 covers his death, as it were.

The only place that they could really plug something in without just doing a MG1/2 remake (which would be the best thing ever, of all time, by the way) is just Outer Heaven carrying out some operations. Not to say a good story couldn't be told with that, but it seems kinda pointless. >_>

You can make a good story with Big Boss post-PW but pre-MG1. Is it necessary? Not really -- but this is true of any game that they could make with the current timeline. The thing about Big Boss is that he has a rich history to work with. He's been all over the world on countless missions. It doesn't have to be revelatory to the overall series for it to be an interesting story. That's the important thing.

As far as whether or not it's Big Boss, I would say so. If it was just the GDC ad, that would be one thing, but the other piece of art matches up with the screenshot they released a few months ago. Just makes sense, I think, especially with how much attention he's gotten from KP the past few years.

Honestly not all that interested in the series timeline continuing beyond the end of MGS4. Good place to finish it.

I wouldn't mind a WWII-era The Boss/Cobras game, or something focusing on Liquid Snake and FOXHOUND. I mean... don't we already know all of Big Boss' story at this point? Aren't all of the pieces already in place? I like Big Boss and all, I really do, but... I don't know, it seems like his story was already told.

Not to imply that I wouldn't buy another MGS game regardless of the central character or anything. The only thing that would stop me is if it's on the Vita.

I suppose that, if you want to do another Big Boss game, that's the best place. Not to sound like a broken record here, because after MGR's announcement everyone said this, but I'd kind of rather see a Raiden game set between MGS2 and MGS4.

Was it ever explained how Big Boss even got back into FOX when it was lead by Major Zero, who I'm pretty sure was not on the friendliest of terms with Big Boss at the end of Peace Walker?

Or maybe it was and I've forgotten. It has been a while.
