It's kinda like TES but more actiony imo.

Fable was just crappy.

Man the Chakram are ****ing amazing, don't think I'll ever use melee again except maybe for daggers for Stealth Kills.

Going Lockpicking, Dispel and Detect Hidden for skills, pretty much want to get all da lewt.

Stealth kills in this game are awesome. The ones on bigger enemies like Jottun are brutal.

Also I love the finisher moves in this game.

They're not used abusively since they're only in '' reckoning '' mode and even then it's a trigger and against bosses.

They might be QTE's but the only thing mashing the button changes is the XP bonus and since enemies respawn you're not losing much for not mashing.

And they're violent as hell so that's nice.

Like there's this one in which your character plants this huge energy spike and impale the enemy on it.

Oh, I know. The fateshift kill on Threshes is my favorite.

You dropkick them. Then you unload on them with a glowing bow made of fate, then fire a charged shot for the final hit.

But that dropkick makes me lol every single time.

The one on the Niskaru is awesome too.

I really dig Kingdoms of Amalur. Dragon Age meets WoW with a fun combat system pretty much, all in all a rock solid addictive RPG.

Go to the next area, get a buncha quests on your list, kill everything, good times.

This music is pretty nice but way too movie-like (then again maybe that's exactly the mood needed, who knows). I definitely liked Kirkhope better back in the 64 days, though the Viva Piñata soundtrack is great.

Alright, out of the first area and into Webwood!

Yovan was a great dungeon, couldn't finish it because of no key though. The Lorestones made me so pumped to face the Widow.

Lockpicking and Dispelling (to a lesser extent) are kinda useless.

Game Devs needs to understand that when skills is involved it very often makes the actual '' skill level '' completely useless, kinda like lockpicking in TES games such as Morrowind and Oblivion.

At least in Fallout 3 and NV if you weren't good enough you couldn't even attempt lockpicking. Not the optimal solution but better than allowing good player to pick level 100 locks at level 5.

Still love the game though, just never gonna use those skills ever!

Yeah, when I interviewed at Big Huge, I grilled them on their game design and was pretty impressed by their answers. Every time I asked "well would X break your game" they had already thought of that, and had a pretty unintrusive solution.

It's a fun game, doing Might/Sorcery at the moment.

Dispelling isn't actually useless, there are a couple of quests where it's necessary if you don't want to kill people who are brainwashed. But if you get the trainers and skill books and then some potions to boost your dispelling, it should do the trick.

Blacksmithing seems to be really good. The only thing that I don't like is the parts you get from salvaging are random. Sagecrafting is great, too.

I have so much poison damage stacked on my greatsword that it's ridiculous. My daggers are fire damage, which works with the armor you get from finishing the Travelers quest line. I'm liking my Finesse/Might build so far, I can stealth till I get caught and then massacre everything easily after that.

Ettins are nothing against backstabs. Then again, most everything in the game falls to a backstab. And if they survive that, I beat the crap out of them with my greatsword.

Setting Ice Traps for them and the other larger enemies is really fun, too. Especially the ones that have charging attacks. Set the traps in a line and get them to charge.

What fight are you talking about, btw? Is it part of the main quest? I went far enough to get the first house then focused on two faction quests. I haven't done a single sidequest or main quest since then.

I had to use a potion against the Maid of Windemere, impossible to stay alive with only the heal spell against like 5 sprites, 1 tresh, one Leandhe and the boss itself.

I basically went all out on her. Drank a ton of stat potions and attacked nothing but her until she was out of health.

But I use no potions at all (well except this one time, don't plan on doing it again), I sell them all.

The only reason I had a health potion on me was because it was some loot in the castle.

Only 25 damage off a backstab? Really? I do between 5000 and 15000 depending on the enemy.

I'm playing on Normal but that seems like a pretty radical difference even for Hard.

Well it seems like Backstab only do insane damage if you would kill in one hit.

Like some dude has 200 hp, if a backstab would do 201 it does the animation and does a flashy 7000 dmg for no reason (because the max damage is 150% bonus so 7000 is pretty insane) but if it doesn't kill in one hit it just does the '' real '' damage.

One thing I'm not too happy with is how the ability trees works.

Like the point prerequisites. I really want to heal spell but almost everything in the sorcery tree sucks and 20 points is a TON.

The lightning and fire spell is pretty sweet.

I'm currently playing a Might/Wisdom greatsword dude with heavy armor. Love the game. Pretty much the best WRPG I've played...in...maybe ever, I dunno!

Man playing pure Might is awesome, I just get attack and I don't give a **** and since I've got this cool as regen I can't even die.

Fighting 3 Jotuns at the same time, don't even try to dodge, just toggle my '' no **** given '' skill and wail at them until they die.
