The elder gods magically freeze time for 5 minutes for you to consider you decision. Assume the person intended to break into your house, will kill you before you can escape, hide, or call the police if you don't kill him, but otherwise has no hostile intent towards you.

Well if he's going to kill me then obviously I'll kill him first. What's the point of the money component at all if the options are actually live or die?
