Darksiders 2 will be on it, probably launch too. Should be a good test.

I don't think nintendo themselves will piss of third parties so much this time, my concern there is nintendo's fans, will they buy into third party games enough to keep those developers coming back? mario games and wii motion titles are monster sellers, but the few decent third party games for the wii...really not so much

But you shouldn't have to focus on both screens at once unless the game is badly designed

Like I said, I'm gonna hate constantly looking down at the screen

Also, the DS' double screens are fine because you can see them both at the same time. With the tablet controller in your lap, you have to literally move your head to look at it, or hold it in front of your face.

Phantom Hourglass wasnt bad because of the control scheme, that actually worked.

It was just bad because of its level design and lol sailing.

still nothing wrong with this

It's a controller with a screen, big woop. Be thankful we don't have Wiimotes/Move/Kinect as standard.

I just want a standard controller

based on the feedback it seems like everyone wants a standard controller

Microsoft should be spending their time being like "we're gonna fix the dpad and modify the shoulder button situation because we had a pretty awesome controller besides those last time"

why do these console companies have to hate everyone so much

Also remember that Nintendo's plan was to have 1 of the main controllers, and then have 4 Wiimotes for multiplayer

IIRC they are trying to make it 2 main controllers per system now, but there will still be Wiimotes

Nintendo should troll the other two companies by hyping up this touchscreen stuff, watch them copy it, then say "actually we're just releasing stand-alone wireless CCPs as our main controller for the next console, been our plan all along"

I'd mark out

No one is copying Nintendo here, anyway. The iPad and other tablets are more of a source of inspiration here than anything, given their enormous popularity as of late. I mean, unless you believe Microsoft only started considering their controller options within the past year, or totally changed it post-June 2011, but those are both unlikely scenarios.

I don't see a problem with a screen in the controller. The WiiU's controller looks fine, and it's reportedly very light and comfortable to hold. It's not as though you're getting a touch screen interface only.

the controls were awful, PH was just awful in other ways as well. spirit tracks would be a better example, the game really had a lot going for it but the touch only controls make it nigh unplayable

Actually, I'm happy with this. My only fear for the Wii U is that the ingenious possibilities available with the Tablet would never be explored because no one but Nintendo would care about it, and Nintendo would offer a lot of "casual" stuff. If MS and/or Sony is also including a tablet, third parties can allow themselves to focus on taking advantage of it without limiting their sales to one platform.

But this does make me think - the Wii U tablet is rumoured to be a pretty advanced/expensive piece of kit. If MS are including a comparable device and a Kinect 2 as standard, how much power will they be able to pack, bearing in mind the importance of cost? I'd assume not enough to be well above the Wii U, which then makes me think they'd want to launch not long after it.

I wonder if gamers were like this when transitioning from the NES to the Genesis/SNES controller.

"What's this? MORE THAN TWO BUTTONS?!? I'll never be able to remember that! I'll have to look down at the controller all the time!"

Heaven help you if you were like me and had a Genesis controller with 6 face buttons.

Did you play without the stylus or something? The DS Zeldas had perfect controls. Spirit Tracks is a high tier Zelda for sure. It was the lack of story, dull dungeons and crappy music that ruined PH.

Theres simply no way that the tablet is going to catch on as a controller type. I can see it catching on as like a "im gonna play mario on this thing while my girlfriend watches Americas got talent" but overall it just doesnt look like it;ll be usable for long periods. Which means it;ll be an optional control scheme.

So whats everyone whining about?

And yeah Sony actually ALREADY has a tablet controller...im just not sure if you can do much with it yet.

What in the world are you talking about?

All hands-on experiences with the Wii U controller have been incredibly positive. Pretty much everybody has been saying it's very comfortable to use as a controller.

I've seen the same videos you have and I know that- in the same way that without my carrying case that has a handle, I hate using my tablet for more than a half hour at a time, i'll feel the same way with a similar sized device because thats how geometry works

I know there are people who are on their Ipads 24/7 so it MUST feel comfortable to SOMEONE but that person isnt me.

The controller is not a tablet though, it's a hybrid controller. Designed to be held like a regular controller, but with a screen built in.

It would still have to be significantly more comfortable than it looks which, reports aside seems unlikely to be true. I mean there are people who found the original Xbox controller too big and unwieldy and this is bigger than that.

It'll probably be okay but as long as there are other options available ill probably avoid the tablet if I can.

Why are reports unlikely true? They're people who have actually handled the device. Just like you, they even thought it would be uncomfortable, but then they try it and they like it.

There's more to controller shape than just size.

Don't get me wrong though, it's fine to be skeptical about it. Just know that you don't actually know that.

All I'm saying is to wait until you can try it before you make claims about its comfort, and when literally everyone with experience is saying it IS comfortable you really shouldn't be so dismissive.
