Alright, throwing this out there - my favorite sitcoms are Spin City, Sports Night and Friends. Outside of those, I've virtually ignored all other sitcoms for the last eight years or so. I never did get around to Arrested Development or anything like that. I hadn't watched a newer sitcom until last year, when I caught a few episodes of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, which were great.

So I went ahead and started watching Community, loved it, cry occasionally because I've run out of episodes, and now I've got a bunch of them on the list. One of them is Arrested Development.

Problem is... I REALLY hate Michael Cera. I've only seen him in a couple things but I want to punch him and his one character ever. I feel like a lot of the people who dislike him but still love him in this show have that benefit because they saw him on Arrested Development first. I don't have that benefit. I'm going to go be going back to watch this.

Is it worth it? Is it REALLY that good? Can I stomach him for this show?

Michael Cera is just a supporting character and he pulls that character off brilliantly. Your hate of Michael Cera won't affect your enjoyment of the show very much.

Most characters in the show are better than michael cera. Also it'll help that he's like 14, I think

I still don't get why people hate Michael Cera. Granted I've only seen him act in Scott Pilgrim and AD but both of those he did really good. George Michael is a hilarious character.

I'd rather not turn it into one of those topics, so instead let's just call my distaste irrational. I hate his face and want to run him over with my car. I'm a bad person.

I wasn't listing them to illustrate the type of sitcom I like. More so illustrating the fact that I haven't watched any sitcoms since those and not many others on top of those. For instance, I get more humor from, say, Downton Abbey, which is probably my favorite show on television, but it's not a sitcom.

No show on television makes me laugh more than Law & Order SVU.

Although I'm convinced the show is satire, so I guess that's not the same circumstances.

So I've seen some clips of Parks and Rec from season three and I was laughing the entire time. I laughed for episode one of season one, but the two episodes since have been really boring and ... not good. Not good at all. So I'm watching them while writing, half-paying attention until I get through these next three.

Season One is REALLY different from the rest of the show. If you liked what you saw from Season 3, you'll love the series. It just takes them a while (most people say about the first 5 episodes) to find what works for them.

Michael Cera is the worst character on the show, but he's still pretty good in it. The rest of the cast is amazing. I definitely wouldn't skip it just because you don't like him; he's nowhere near being the entire focus of AD, so his standard awkward moments don't dominate anything.

All of the US Office. But I never laughed at The Office commercials either. I've seen plenty of new Parks and Rec to know it's funny, and not awkward. The office is just not good.

I'd say that AD is the consistently better show of those two, but Community's high points are just damn near untouchable. I'd still call Community my favorite due to personal preference.

And not that you wouldn't, but it is absolutely essential to watch AD in order. It's not like Community it loses something but is still watchable out of order. By Season 2 you literally won't get why half the jokes are funny, even though you think the narration is telling you everything you need to know (it's not).

Well, again, I've laughed at the funny parts of Parks and Rec. I've never laughed at The Office's so-called funny parts. I really love Ron so far.

Also, P&R >>>>>>>> The Office. I tried going back to the "golden age" of The Office recently (seasons two and three), and man, even those episodes are hard to watch now. They just feel really outdated, despite only being 5-6 years old.

P&R has significantly better writing and cast chemistry, IMO.

I just can't put it above Futurama. I have a connection with that show, which I guess is how a lot of people feel about it. Futurama is the best in my eyes and I don't see that changing. Code Monkeys is probably third, so ridiculously underrated.

But yeah, Archer makes me laugh more than Futurama does. But Futurama also puts out a lot more emotions. I love me some Krieger.

It was broadcast in correct sequence, but they changed how many episodes they ordered period. The big issue was that the show was one of the biggest critical successes at the time but Fox really didn't know how to push it, and just wanted to get rid of it. So they eventually put it against MNF and the Olympics so they could claim it was a failure and cancel it.

By in order, I simply meant that if you got your hands on S2 before S1, don't just start watching that. I think a few of the early episodes might have gotten switched around, but I never found anything as egregious as Community's early network induced continuity errors where they actually had the Luiz Guzman statue show up before it's unveiling. Or having Jeff out of nowhere trying to be a good friend to Britta, and then on the next episode him telling Britta he wouldn't mind being her friend by the end of it.
