I'm wondering what the general feelings on tattoos are around this board. Like, would you get one, is it a deal breaker, do you think the social stigma associated with them is unfair, etc.
I'm just curious what people think about them. I don't really plan on getting one. If offered I would, but i have no money to spend on that right now.
I like them, but I can see how people wouldn't. For me having a little more trouble finding work while I'm in school was worth it, but it's definitely something you have to consider.
From: FashnQueenEtna | #011 Well like, yeah I can understand not wanting to have an obvious one. But should it have as much of an effect on a persons view of you as it does now?
Well, of course it shouldn't, it's just aesthetics. Obviously it doesn't work out that way, but as with nearly any "permanent" decision, you need to weigh up the pros and cons before going through with it. Personally I didn't notice much change; whatever stigma is attached to it isn't a particularly serious one.
Eh, i never really thought about it but yeah I guess they do tend to look better on girls. However, a lot of things (in the visual department) look better on girls than guys for whatever reasons
I don't require them or consider them a deal-breaker in any way. My girl has six tattoos and I think they look really sexy on her, but I'm always making sure I know if she gets more ... because tattoos can be pretty darn dumb. I also don't want them on her breasts or ass. So yeah.
Doubt I would ever get one myself unless it was for a huge life event (being in military... being in cast of Lord of the Rings...). They don't directly influence my opinion of other people, but I tend not to be compatible with people who have a bunch for other reasons.
Basically, it is a way of expressing yourself, and I fully support that. However, I am not necessarily interested in what you are expressing, especially as it tends to be a self-selecting range of expressions.
Very hit or miss. Some people just look ridiculous with tats, not only with what they get but where they get it. I prefer them on girls since I think generally they pull it off better. Also prefer them not in the open.
I like the idea but I would not get one personally because it would look dumb on me. Also I might regret getting it not long after. =/
I don't mind them, and they can even make a guy more attractive. They just need to not be overly colorful or feminine looking. And preferably no words.

Not a big fan of them, but I can look past them most of the time.
It's a lot worse if I'm already used to seeing the person without the tattoo, though. Doesn't bother me nearly as much if they've already got the tattoo when I first meet them.

After not bothering to read the rest of the topic, I'll say this: tattoos on women are ugly. Tattoos on men are only ok because we're all ugly anyways.
I don't know if I'll get any on my back. I kinda want to, but I like being able to see my tattoos and I also like having them in areas where I can show them off. Otherwise I don't see much point.

Remember, it'll be less expensive to get it than it will to get rid of it. Make sure it's something you can live with even if you have kids, get really old, or things like that.

There never was a post. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and refracted the light from Venus.
they are really unappealing to me but at the same time I do think the social stigma attached to them is unfair, yes. I guess this doesn't exactly make prefect sense but uhh
like I would never be attracted to someone who had a tattoo just because I think they look weird/gross. I wouldn't just automatically assume that person is a loser or be less likely to hire them though.

Kill every suspect, starting at one end. The one left standing is your culprit.
For the mostpart, I think they're dumb, and are totally off-putting. There are a very few select instances where I can think of where a tattoo looked really good on the person who had it, but those are the exceptions that prove the rule. I'm not a big fan of anything that looks artificial -- make-up, hair dyed in glaringly unnatural colors, piercings and tattoos all fall under that umbrella. But especially tattoos since at least you can get rid of that other stuff.
If there were some redeeming quality to tattoos, I wouldn't hate on them, but there simply isn't one. Not one. It's like smoking -- it's only cool when your friends tell you to do it.
