Kind of fell in love with the Glock .45 she has and decided that I wanted the same model. I tried the 10mm but it felt off for some reason. Not sure how to explain it really. I ended up going to a local shop today and picking up my own G21 (Gen 4) and am now ordering a few things for it. Taking a couple classes next week to prep for the permit class next month, and I'm excited that I'll have my own while I'm there. This forum post seems to explain it as just using the metric system vs the english system. 9mm and 10mm are easier to say than their english caliber counterparts, whereas .45 or .50 cal is easier to say than their metric counterparts. http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66079 2. I'm in Memphis, TN. I'll be taking intro to handguns w/ the gf next week and then following up w/ the intermediate class before finally taking the permit class next month. The classes are in no way required to purchase a handgun, or to even have it in the home. They're simply to educate myself on using my gun. However, Tn law states that in order to actually carry a loaded handgun, you need the permit. If you don't have the permit and you use the gun outside of your home (even in self defense) it's unlawful. Obviously that doesn't transfer to the range, but that brings up the question of transportation. If you don't have your permit, then you must have the gun completely unloaded and have the ammo stored out of range of the gun (so you'd put the gun in your trunk and the ammo in the front seat or something like that). The old saying of "you get what you pay for" applies doubly so to guns. I also just bought a beavertail grip extension, a slide lever stop extension as well as a punch kit and cleaning kit that should be here Friday. =D I got that after shooting two mags from the 10mm my first night shooting. I learned real quick not to ride the gun too high after that (which is why I went ahead and bought the beavertail grip for my new .45). People who have guns should be able to show that they can use them responsibly. Anyway shooting handguns is a ton of fun. I usually won't load the mag to full since getting the last 2 rounds in can actually hurt, so when I say a put a mag into a target, it should be around 10-13 shots. Zombie 1: I put 5 mags in this one. 2 in the head, 1 in the brain, one in the chest and one in the crotch. The left side spread is where my gf shot (she likes to just unload a mag really quick lol). Zombie 2: I think this was the first one I shot, so I was getting used to the gun (since I had only shot once a long time ago). Clown zombies are evil. He's got no eyes. =P I was shooting at the hand so I could see where I was hitting. Not my best shooting, but still ok for a beginner. Zombie 3: I think this was the second one I shot, not entirely sure. I put 5 mags into it I think. I'll post pics of week 2 targets when I get them from the gfs house.
