There's a couple of new hairstyles and colors for both Male Shep and FemShep.

There might be new makeup for FemShep, but I'm not too sure.

Sentinel really has been nerfed, but it's not unmanageable. From what everyone is saying, Engineer got buffed like crazy. Vanguard, Adept, and Infiltrator are all still really good, and Soldier is still basically the same.

It doesn't make the Sentinel unplayable or anything, but from what I can tell you've got a choice. Take a bunch of guns and use the armor to be a walking tank, but lose out on using powers often. Or, take only a couple of guns and still be tanky, but have the ability to use powers way more often.

There's a point where you have just an assault rifle and a pistol, and even with TA up Throw recharges in 2.5 seconds. And that's without it leveled up at all. In fact, you're LV1 at that point. And that's less recharge than in ME2. So it's definitely manageable if you keep your carry weight low. Shouldn't be too hard.

The armor not detonating automatically is kind of a bummer. And the explosion radius is much smaller to start with, although you can boost it in the skill tree. Also, it no longer boosts your shields. Instead, it just gives you a set amount of damage resistance.

I do really like how the game forces you to make choices on your build, even when it comes to what guns to carry. And since even different guns in the same class will have different weights, it adds some strategy to it.

Bet the Widow's incredibly heavy. May just try and run Sniper and Shotgun on my Infiltrator.

Well, they kind of had to for balance since every class can use every gun now.

Each class has a carry weight. The more guns you carry the higher it is, and the higher your cooldowns are. So you have to choose between carrying a bunch of weapons and having more firepower, or having fewer weapons and using powers more often.

Obviously Soldiers won't mind carrying a bunch of weapons, but an Adept is gonna want to limit themselves to maybe a pistol and SMG.

For instance, Adept w/ pistol is crazy in the demo. Cooldowns range from 1-5 seconds. Singularity is recharged in like 4, Warp and Throw in like 1.5. And that's without any leveling. Later on when you're forced to carry 4 guns the cooldowns jump up to like 15-20 seconds, which sucks for the Adept.

I figure it'll be easy to find a decent balance with each class. I mean all I ever really used with my Infiltrator in ME2 was the sniper and the SMG, although I might go with the shotgun in ME3 because Cloak lasts longer.

SMG/Assault Rifle on my Sentinel, Sniper/SMG on my Infiltrator, Shotgun/SMG on my Vanguard. At least in ME2. SMGs are too good in that game.

Yeah, I don't see the weight limit causing me problems. A "pure caster" Adept should be really fun to play with the super fast cooldowns. Only having a pistol might suck, but we'll see.

Okay so I just played up to part of mission 2.

First impressions:
Conversations seem less TOTAL SOFTY/NEUTRAL/BADASS than before... or rather that there is no neutral, and the good/bad choices are less extreme. It seemed like it made sense to pick a 'good' option one time and a 'bad' option another time. I didn't see any big decisions in the demo, though, so I dunno how those play out, or if they are highlighted as blue/red so blatantly like in previous games.

Combat seems great. Guns sound cooler and hit harder, and hell yes that HEAVY MELEE. Still pretty much ME2s combat system, but well refined, I like it.

Skill system is AWESOME. Takes the best of ME1 and ME2. There are more levels to each skill, but there are still the branching choices, which is what made ME2s so great.

Voices seem very good. Male Shep actually sounds like he's trying for once! His performance in the first mission was great and actually allowed me to relate with him.

Characters... eh, is it just all of ME1s cast with some ME2 cameos and James? Are there any other new guys? I mean, Wrex and Garrus were far improved in ME2, and that carries over, but Liara still seemed terrible. I dunno if just carrying over old characters can compare with ME2's cast.

Graphics are really awesome in-game. No slowdown or anything for me (though my PC is far above the recommended specs), and very colorful. Prerendered cinematics look like **** though.

Controls seem good, too. The added platforming stuff seems fun, if relatively superficial. The only problem is that I think the spacebar is used for too much crap. Trying to press a button or pick something up makes you go into cover and vice-versa sometimes, kinda annoying.

The demo apparently had most of the dialogue cut out to avoid spoiling stuff.

Took an look at the Engineer's powers and skill trees. I can see why everyone is saying it might be the best class now. You can set a turret and your drone, and they both can be upgraded to shoot rockets. And you get Sabotage, which has been combined with AI Hacking, so you can have a turret, a drone, a hacked enemy, and your squadmates all on the field at once.

Agreed I would've liked more emphasis on ME2's cast, since it is funny hanging out with a buncha love interests I don't wanna do and not Jack, etc. Plus ME2 just had so many awesome teammates.

But none the less, ME1's were cool, I'm sure ME3 will spin those plates pretty well.

main thing that bothered me though was the sprint (seemed weird turning / awkward) and it seemed you have to be somewhat further away to interact with stuff + some minor stuff (cover / roll etc) but hey its a demo

The first bit felt a little off to me, honestly... like it was rushed. I assume this is really just a demo thing, though, considering Bioware has said they cut out some stuff.

The second part of the demo was great though. Played like an even MORE polished ME2. The rolling controls are a little awkward, but other than that I love it.

Can't wait til the multiplayer unlocks for all the non-BF3 people because I really wanna try it out.

Mordin does have a new VA, but it was being distorted by the intercom too, yeah. You can hear him straight up in one part, and he sounds almost exactly the same. It's SLIGHTLY different, but mostly I think the guy nailed the performance.

If the Mordin guy is new, he's doing well because I didn't notice. It's not the most original voice, so as long as you get the robotic dialogue, it's gonna sound like Mordin pretty much.

Also I hope the first part isn't a 10 minute long cutscene like that in the final game. That sucked. Only MGS4 can pull off stuff like that.

Yep. Action mode makes it more like a traditional shooter, lessens the RPG elements and automatically makes decisions for you in cutscenes. It's for the people who don't really care about the story, I guess.

Story mode is just the opposite. It's light on gameplay and what's there is very easy, supposedly. Just for people who want to experience the story and make conversation choices, I guess. I figure story mode might be nice to use on a replay or something if I just want to breeze through the story or something, but I dunno if I'll ever really use it.

Both modes are totally optional, of course. You can always play it the traditional way, and I assume most will.

As far as I know, Action = no choices, story = combat really simplified.

I haven't tried either of them though. Probably never will.

Just played through the demo again as an Adept, and I really like the effects for the biotic powers in this game. They just seem more powerful.
