OFFICIAL TRAILERS Music and Sound Trailer: Power and Mastery: A New World to Discover: Fate and Destiny: Combat Comes to Life: Skills and Crafting: Combat Trailer: Heroes Guide: ---- PREVIEWS Machinima: IGN: Gamespot: Gametrailers: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/advanced-preview-kingdoms-of/726281
--------- WHATS IT LIKE? I'd say, a bit of Fable, a bit of Dragon Age, and a bit of Skyrim. The combat is definitely very Fable-ish. It's action-based, fast-paced, and fun. The emphasis, like fable, is on quickly using several different weapons in combat. You can quickly use your long ranged weapon, then quickly use a short range one with no delay. The exploration is also a bit like Fable in terms of, you have a big open world to explore, but you seem to be kind of constricted to paths, theres lots of ways to go on these paths, but it doesn't appear to be a game where you can wander around random grass or mountains or whatever (which I am fine with personally).
Unlike Fable, you can strike up conversations with people, who dragon age/bioware type conversations. There are lots of random sidequests to find, and, in the vein of Skyrim, there appear to be faction based questlines where you go through the ranks of various groups in the land.
Unlike any of those 3, I'd say there is a serious emphasis on the story as well. The lore is deep and detailed, and the game poses some interesting mysteries right out of the gate. ---------- THE DREAM TEAM http://reckoning.amalur.com/en/r/visionaries
R.A. Salvatore -Famous Sci-Fi and fantasy author, New York Times Bestseller. He wrote this game.
Ken Rolston -Lead Designer for both Morrowind and Oblivion. Main creative mind behind this game.
Todd McFarlane -The executive art director for Amalur.
Curt Schilling -Pitched with a bloody sock. Loves video games and america. ----------- DEMO? A demo is currently out on Xbox 360, PSN, and Steam. You get to play through the opening dungeon, then you have 45 minutes to explore and quest (timer is paused during conversations). So yeah, the demo gives you quite a bit of time to form your own impressions.
---------- RELEASE DATE
February 7th, for the 360, PS3, and PC.
I haven't seen much in the way of offers/deals yet, except for newegg selling it for $45 (though I'm not sure if you get it day of release this way).
So aww yeah, whos pumped.

on a side note, based on the IGN stuff I've read with the complete build, if you do encounter bugs in the demo, they seem to be fixed in the release version.

also, apparently salvatore did a lot of work to craft the world, but didn't write any of the games actual story, and the side quest storylines. He served as more of an editor from that point on.

I tried the demo last night. I was kinda into it but the camera was a little wacky. I moved it all over but I just never got a view I liked. Also when trying to adjust it, it swung around all over the place way too fast.

Something witty while mentioning SuperNiceDog. Give me a break, I'm not as clever as the Guru Champion.
I dont get whats wrong with it being fableish when it comes to the combat, the combat in Fable is fun. The other RPG stuff, like no conversations and stuff, totally suck, I think this takes the good parts of fable.
I know this demo used some old code for some reason, schilling was pissed about it, hopefully the camera is better in the full game, though I personally don't remember having any major problems with it.

I don't understand the camera problem complaints, I didn't even notice any problems. That or I was just able to get used to it and use it just fine before thinking it was a problem. o.O
yeah like I said, I've been surprised by them too, I didn't have any real problems with it. It's pretty rare for me to have any problems with a camera I can control. Only camera problems I ever really have are with fixed ones. Like, I'm playing Castlevania: LoS and it has a pretty awful camera. That kinda stuff bothers me, but nothing I've seen in Amalur.

Maybe that wasn't the best picture to show what I meant, but if you play Bayonetta and you play Amalur I think you'll be able to tell what I mean. I really WANT to like this game, it's just a few technical issues getting in the way. It could have even been the areas I was in, I didn't get past the tunnels you start out in, and those are pretty cramped quarters. They may have affected the camera distance.
And I thought it was pretty widely accepted that KH1 had camera issues which (I was told anyway) KH2 corrected.

I'm playing the demo at the momento, so far I'd say it's pretty decent. Compared to say, Dragon Age II, it doesn't feel quite as good, but it's also got some stuff that doesn't in the oldschool armor catagory, etc.
Some downsides being a lot of invisible walls, linear dungeon design (based on the first stuff anyway), kind of... just a slight lack of variety in things to do in a dungeon.
I'm expecting with open world RPGness and all that will be where the heart of the game is at, but my preliminary feel is that I won't dig it as much as Dragon Age games, which is what I'd compare it to most probably.
Still, seems solid from the vids I've seen, and plays decent, I'd definitely pick it up sometime if its say 40 bucks.

its the intro dungeon, I'm sure other dungeons have a bit more paths, but kinda surprised you have that criticism then you love dragon age. I can see Skyrim fans being put off by it, dragon age is pretty similar in that regard imo.

Super pumped for this game. The Gametrailers preview said that none of the issues and glitches present in the demo are in the final version of the game.
-- you just can't live in that negative way...make way for the positive day
Now I'm in the wander around talk to people do little things fight stuff 45 mins part. Pretty much, I like a lot of the ideas, and the look of the trees are cool with the class-mixing stuff. Overall though the general feel of the game, the drive to play it I guess, the combat, etc, it's not grabbing me a lot, but it is a bit.
I'll check it out sometime, but not full price, it does have some coolness to it but doesn't rock my face.

Welp, this game is only 45 bucks at NewEgg wih free shipping, I have just ordered it ohhh yes. I mean I've got a month to burn until Mass Effect 3, I'll be done with NeverDead by next week I'm sure.

I only know of NeverDead from the legendary Konami E3 Press Conference of 2010, where the designer or whoever wore a giant coat so he could pretend his head had been cut off.
So I basically imagine it to be Konami E3 Conference 2010: The Videogame. Which kinda makes me want it.

Was E3 2010 the one in which I was gonna be sucked by WAN MIRRON TROOPS and Glee?
You know I'm not a reviews man Hawk, I love Duke Nukem Forever. Ha and for the record NeverDead is very cool according to THIS guy's review. =P
Currently rockin that and Soul Calibur V today, next week lookin forward to this Amalur action. The thing I like the best about it is the trees where you get to do a lot of mixing with warrior/rogue, wizard/rogue, warrior/wizard, etc, and I liked how down at the bottom later on you even get to mix all three, delicious.
