The ingredient that defines chocolate is actually good for you, but the sugar that's added is not.

Cheese is also fattening, etc. Good for you in small amounts if you actually keep a regular healthy diet...which majority does not. I love cheese. So. Much. ;_;

It's just that different foods reach the "too much" level at different places.

...kind of, but not really. At least not calorie and fat content wise. Eat tofu and rice cakes all day without much else and you'll probably be none the wise, minus vitamins, protein, and other nutrients. But you won't get fatter or have high cholesterol!

It's all about moderation. If you use just a bit of certain "bad ingredients" then you can stay really healthy and make really good tasting stuff.

in man's environment 1000s of years ago, it would be advantageous to eat high sugar foods if you found them (they would have been rarer)

thus people who had the taste for them had an advantage over who had taste buds that thought they tasted bad


(in reality this adaption probably developed long before man was man(maybe even before mammals) but you understand what I mean)

Seriously, you can get tons of awesome flavor from vegetables and spices. You'll want some meat to bring it all together and make a dinner out of it, but some lean grilled chicken breasts do that in a very healthy way. The only thing you really need to watch out for here is too much sodium.

Packaged "health food" though, as opposed to foods you prepare that just ARE healthy, definitely tastes like crap. That's because they're trying to make things that are LIKE the unhealthy packaged foods, with substitutes for the ingredients that make them unhealthy, which are the same ingredients that make it tasty.

strawberries are delicious, yes. apples can be good too. and technically plantains are fruits or something, i dunno. somewhere related to bananas though! yellow ones (aka, when it's ripe) are delicious in damn near any way you make 'em.

I looked this up a long time ago, and yeah, it's a survival thing. While we're talking about this, I also read somewhere that a huge reason why people like bright colors (say, red, blue, green, yellow, etc.) more than other colors (dark colors in general, etc.) is because liking certain colors attracted people to fruit. Also, companies like McDonald's and Burger King take advantage of that and have bright colors all over their restaurants because that makes us crave food (IIRC).

Just some random things I've heard.

It sucks because I really hate veggies for the most part, and it just makes food boring. I'll eat the basic stuff like broccoli, carrots or peas... but they kind of suck too. It's not like they're bad, but the don't make the meal any better.. it's just better to look at with all the colors and such. But the rest of them I just can't stand.. Onions, Tomatoes, Peppers (love spicy foods, hate peppers) and even bland stuff like celery or mushrooms are basically a struggle to eat...

If I was actually able to get the right amound of veggies, I'd be eating pretty damn healthy... but as it stands, I know I'm not getting nearly enough. Seriously considering getting a Vita-Mix and just drinking a Kale shake every morning.

And for fruit... I thought fruit in general was pretty mediocre until I tried the Plumcot... God tier.
