I thought Dan's chapter was the best. Harrison and Seymour's didn't have enough direction. Stephanie's chapter was fine, but her character is kind of weird.

Nah, Seymour's chapter had too much direction was the problem. If you tried to direct him into moving off of his straight line path he would not-too-kindly disagree and go right back to doing what he was doing, making for very little interactivity. I guess you're right about Harrison though. Thing is, his chapter was fun even if he didn't listen go most of what we suggested. And the most important direction- the fire extinguishers of course- was heeded each time. ^_^

Dan's chapter was just so frustrating because of FAH and Dan's frenemies, but it was pretty fun.

Since I quite like being counter-productive, the 'free-form' chapters rank higher for me:

Chapters
Dan > Stephanie > Chris > Harrison > Seymour

Dan's chapter felt like the most fleshed-out section and, deus ex machina aside, let us do the most. Stephanie and Chris let us make things from loaves of bread, but Stephanie's hilarious writing edges it. I'm still angry about that damn vent in Harrison's story, so he gets marked down through sheer saltiness. Seymour's I didn't play much, basically.

Harrison is amazing. Poor Stephanie is so fun to push into the mud. Dan's gimmick was entertaining. Seymour does his own thing. It seems unfair to rank Chris, since he was probably intentionally a blank slate.

... so, any guesses on what's going to happen? Seems like there'll be Grue Battles, but the most destructive weapon a character has so far is a basketball (unless Harrison kept an extinguisher, I can't remember), so perhaps not.

And how are we supposed to look in cisterns with Grues about!?

Dan > Stephenie > Harrison >> Chris > Seymour.

I'm with Saga on quickly becoming annoyed by Seymour just flat out ignoring our commands. Meanwhile Chris had more great moments for me. Not counting preplanned stuff like the end of Seymour's of course.

Harrison and Stephanie both had a lot of funny stuff in it, but I give Stephanie a bit of a pusth for having more of a concrete story.

Based mostly on how much I contributed and enjoyed them I guess.

And Harrison needs no weapons. He is a manly man who uses his immense anger and strength to destroy his enemies...much like the Hulk.

I think Harrison was probably the "best". Very free form and we didn't always know what to do, but both in terms of what happened and his character, it seemed the most... developed?

Stephanie kinda creeped me out but I liked her chapter more as it went on.

Dan's was simultaneously the most amusing and the most frustrating due to endless Deus Ex Machina. I'd probably put it as #1 for enjoyment though.

Seymour is a douche and didn't feel like we had much control over anything.

See, this is good. I know what to do more and what to do less of. So less freedom and lots and lots of dues ex machinas for everyone!

And don't blame me for Dan. I was BLUDGEONINGLY clear that you needed to build up your Mack Gauge before talking to the girls and you all ignored me. So I punished you. Over and over again. And I giggled while I did it.

As far as rankings, well, hard for me to do. I like all five characters equally, but as far as scenes so far, Chris's is my favourite for this one page:

My favorite from Chris's is the picture of him pouring porn flakes directly into his mouth and crunching on them.


I find it disturbing that Jenova or whoever she is wakes up at the exact same time Chris does.

Aww man, amazing end to the chapter. Previously the series was like 8/10 for me but now it's 9.5/10.

I have a bias due to Dan's ending. And it was fun to interact with lots of people and make FAH suffer through drawing backgrounds. Then there's Schadenfreude Stephanie. It's quite fun watching the poor girl suffer (I've said this already, but she really reminds me of Tomoko from It's Not My Fault That I'm Not Popular, although they're still quite inherently different).



Harrison's was fine, we spent most of it looking for our...keys or something. But the ending was quite great. Chris' was really funny, I love how the guy would follow our instructions. But he was trapped in his room, so yeah. Barely anything happened in Seymour's (and it'd be lovely if he had followed a bit more of our wackier instructions), but DAT ENDING.

Dan has that right combination of freedom and his own character. Stephanie is fun and lovable, I just want to hug here. Chris was so happy-go-lucky and carefree. Seymour is an internet AND meta troll, but at least he's, like, one of us. Harrison I couldn't relate much to, but I his acrimon system was good fun.

Yeah, I won't lie, Tomoko did heavily influence Steph's design. She was a bit bland before and a bit darker and morbid, but after reading that, I thought Tomoko was a lot more likable. Though I wanted Steph to be infinitely less creepier. And if you think Steph if creepy, well, read It's not my Fault I'm not Popular.

I have this odd feeling that, assuming the characters are all going to meet up, Harrison is going to get on well with Stephanie. They just seem like they'd make a nice (terrifying) couple once she's done stalking Chris.

Chris is the best character. He didn't seem to really have much going on in his chapter, but it was his presence in all the other chapters that cemented his top spot. He's just too damn likable.

Not much to pick from here since Seymour doesn't really do anything and the MMO scenes are mostly just the same character pose over and over, so I'm going to go with this because it's far too awesome to ignore, even if it is technically post-Seymour.


edit - also, wow. We're actually up to over 550 panels at this point, some of which aren't mere panels. This has been a pretty long ride already, and it feels in some ways like we're only getting started.

Real Talk: FAH, actually a closet tsundere, has long finished the backgrounds, but is determined to let this topic reach 500 posts without looking like he cares or anything, geez.

Also, any time anyone complains about the "twists" in Dan's chapter, or the lack of action in Seymour's chapter, he pre-emptively removes a joke from a later chapter.

Possibly while pouting.
