Not that I've played in 2 years but hey someone mentioned it and lol. Level 90 versions of Scholomance and Scarlet Monastery in the next expansion. Reusing Naxx made sense because it fit with the story and something like only 5% of players ever downed a single boss in the original Naxx before TBC came out. Even SFK and Deadmines was somewhat acceptable due to the whole "refocus on Vanilla" or w/e theme that Cata had. But really... reusing Scholomance and Scarlet Monastery (which makes no sense lorewise at all considering how it ties into the whole Scourge thing which already ended in Wrath) is just plain lazy.

Reusing scholomance kinda makes sense, since it's a pretty awesome dungeon for which it's basically impossible to find an appropriately leveled group to do.

People liked that they remade the Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep for level 85, so they've decided that redoing a few "classic" instances every now and then is a fun thing to do.

Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman was overall a bit of a mistake and I think they realize where they went wrong with that one.

iirc, the majority of people playing WoW have not played since Vanilla.

So there's nothing wrong with them remaking old, awesome instances that are never going to be played anymore (since there is absolutely no reason to go into those instances right now =/)

Of all the things to complain about, this is pretty far down the list. I mean, you're right that it would have made a lot more sense to rework these back in WotLK storywise, but they're cool instances so it'll be nice to have a reason to do them again.

But I think they're dropping the ball storywise in general (and this isn't typical lore whining, don't worry) like, what exactly is the main plot behind MoP? Is there any lore worth exploring? What's the point of all this panda stuff again? I mean, obviously there's a lot more to the game than lore, but having a bit of context would be nice. It's like they've gone "oh crap, we've run out of hanging plot threads... Pandas!".

What's wrong with recycling? As long as they make the same number of dungeons in MoP as they have in previous expansions.

Burning Crusade had 16 dungeons
Wrath had 16
Cata has 14 currently, 2 of which are recycled and 2 of which are old raids which have become dungeons. To be fair, Cata also redesigned all of Azeroth and several of the Vanilla dungeons had tweakings and redesigns.

If Mists creates 16 dungeons and 2 are remakes, I really don't see the problem. Is anyone really missing 2 "new" dungeons in the grand scheme of things.

There's amny worse reasons to hate on WoW than that.

-Devs admit to preferring one faction over the other and insult the faction they don't like repeatedly at Blizzcon, alienenating half their player base.

-7 years later and they still haven't gotten solid class balance

-SW:TOR, their biggest competition yet, and they decide it's a good idea to bring out pandas as their next big race

-Storytelling going down the crapper. Seems like if you aren't an orc or forsaken, you may as not bother.

etc etc etc

To be fair, I admit I'm not a huge WoW lore nerd, but it's either Pandas or... what? I genuinely can't think of anything else that would make sense that has a better reason to come out. I guess something lame like High Elves for Alliance and Dark Iron Dwarves join Horde, but having 3 PC Elves and 2 PC Dwarves seems like even more lazy. I guess we could have something like Naga, but that doesn't make sense either. Making something new would piss off Panda fans and making Pandas pisses off everyone else.

Is this a joke post? They did their absolute best to be faction neutral at Blizzcon, class balance is pretty much the best it's ever been, people will just cry no mater what because if they lose balance is obviously broken, pandas are just as fine as any other race in the game, and the story is fine.

lol WoW story. Period. From day 1 in 2004. People are still trying to say its "getting ruined"? People should be saying its been ruined since 2004 at the latest. Id argue that war 3 and TFT ruined warcraft's lore to be honest. But a 7ish year void between beyond the dark portal and war 3 will change things. SC2 saw the same thing.

WoW just needs to fade into the night. But gamers these days are such mindless drones that theyll keep playing it. WoW was solid for a few years, and became a joke by around 2007.

A licensed game like Star Wars isnt the answer though.

But ya, MMO's is the least innovative genre since WoW's release in 2004. Even JRPGs have innovatived a tad.

It took 23 posts for someone to complain about Pandarens. I am shocked and amazed, considering I figured that is what the topic title was going to be about. Now all we need is people complaining about 1v1 PvP balance in a multiplayer game and people to complain about losing loot to bads in LFR, then we can officially say that this is a mock topic of just about every post at the WoW boards.

Me too. It's not as easy as people make it out to be. The problem is, class balance typically comes with making classes feel less unique. I played DnD4e when it launched and I was really disappointed that every class felt about 90% the same. Some people liked the balance and didn't like DnD3.5's lack of balance with casters being lulzy powerful and stuff like fighters being weak in comparison, but I'd rather actually feel like my class has something cool it can do. Even WoW has done this to an extent with a lot of buffs and class features overlapping.

Well there is new stuff. But many players look back at classic wow and say the game was much better back then. A lot of that is tinted in nostalgia, but redoing a classic instance everyone remembers fondly plays into that nostalgia pretty well. It's just fun revisiting these places and making them relevant.

They shouldn't ever redo another raid like Naxx, but the odd dungeon is a neat thing.

You have to be pretty ignorant or blinded by bias to not see that Blizzard prefers Horde.

Granted Metzen went out there with an Alliance shirt to try and show some neutrality, but it took him a whopping 20 seconds to start going on about the Horde, and then mentioned the Alliance while trying not to yawn. Also the part at the end with Samwise and the cannible corpse fellow. Even during the lore Q&A Metzen will always give a smile and respond to fans yelling for the horde in the audience.

He and the devs prefer the Horde, plain and simple. Cata is evidence of this as the Alliance got shafted this expansion. If you honestly can't see it, you're just so blinded by Horde fanboyism, that you'd say things were neutral if the Alliance were relegated to Azuremyst Isle and never allowed to leave.
