That's right. We're finishing these TONIGHT! (I go by Pacific time, so ha.)
No. 4 Metroid Prime - Essence of Metroid Prime Battle
Submitted by: MycroProcessor
FINALLY!! A song from a game Ive actually PLAYED!! (Yeah. I know, right?) This song has a lot of interesting sounds in it. Some are neat little clicky synthesizer sounds, others sound almost organic. This song has a good beat to it, it has good percussion sounds, and it conveys a lot of tension. And I BETTER, because this song is for the SECOND phase of this final boss! Blast you Metroid Prime! All the other bosses were easy compared to you! Seriously though, there was a lot that happened in this fight, and this song conveys that nicely.

This song is really good. The sequences were very appealing to me, personally. The choral pieces flowed very nicely with the song, for the most part. I could sense the song conveying the tension of the fight. A nice piece, all in all.

I like this one. The synthesizers are great! Good beat, good drive, good sound overall. The fact that this is a boss song seems to mostly be conveyed by the action in the song. Though, there are some definite pieces of the song that just seem to tell you outright, Big deal of a guy, here! I can imagine this being a good fight. (Zeros legs and feet are bigger than he is!)
The 1st place song will be posted shortly...

This song is pretty huge, in a matter of speaking. Its very energetic. It sounds like it wants to be orchestral in some spots. It has a nice speed to it, and I could imagine the battle being fast paced (dur hur, thats Sonic for ya). The action and a certain amount of tension made this song work. Nicely done. Very enjoyable.

MycroProcessor posted... 4th place is pretty high and good. I didn't do as well as I did last time you did a list like this, but that's probably because "VGM Boss Fight" is a lot more specific. My preferences within the category of "boss fight" also tend to bring out the most extreme side of me, with experimental super-dissonant and chaotic stuff. It doesn't help that when I made my submissions to this I saw I would be the last one to make it in, so I just really quickly linked a few tracks that I had been listening to a lot recently without considering your tastes carefully or anything. I'm glad I still did pretty well even without doing that though!
Well hey! That makes it more honest, instead of trying just to post stuff you're sure I'll like.
I'm sure you could come up with some interesting stuff if you had more time/I were ranking more songs. I saw you submitted Rundas Battle in Tazzy's topic and I was like, "Good for him." Truly a good song.

Congratulations to Angelo and everyone else who participated. I enjoyed this stuff!
MycroProcessor posted... I suppose so, but I like to feel like I'm recommending things to people as opposed to just posting completely random stuff I like, it feels too selfish to me that way. Usually I just do a mix of a few tracks I like that I don't know how the other will feel about, and a few that I like that I think the person doing the list will possibly like a lot as well.
Ok. That makes sense. I'm sure you'll have another opportunity to recommend stuff for another contest. But next time, I'll have to improve my ranking process. :P
How do you guys do it, just out of curiosity?
