barely got halfway through the two towers when i tried LotR

i'm trying to think, i haven't read the book in ages

it would probably have to be a part where they're captured right? to have a cliffhanger for the second

possibly when they're captured by the elves or the spiders in the forest

goblins are too early and obviously the gollum stuff is in the movie...although the dwarves captured and frodo stuck in the cave with gollum seems like the most dire part of the book.

and then gandalf rolls in and kicks ass to start the second film awww yeah

I was thinking the capture by the Mirkwood Elves too, since that gives a pretty solid 3-act structure to the second part, and ends the first half with a battle.

Yeah, I could see the movie ending with Bilbo sneaking in to Mirkwood. Then it cuts back to Gandalf and the White company as they prepare to assault Dol Guldar.

Seems like it has a certain level of fun that the LOTR trilogy kinda lacked.

I get what you mean, but I think Fellowship of the Ring had it. That's what made it by far my favorite of the original three, so I am incredibly excited for this. I just hope they can keep it going for Part 2 and not have it be more like Two Towers/Return of the King. I don't THINK it will but you never know, the later parts of the book are a bit more warlike and a bit less adventuresome, just like TTT/RotK as compared to FotR but to a lesser degree.

Ha, I hate to post this in every Hobbit topic, but won't the next movie (with the second half) be the better movie of forever? Also, why is this a year from now, great scott.

Very cool trailer, Gandalf smokin' it up and being awesome is all we need. That and a lovely tea party.
