Pokemon Trainers were not terribly predictable--they were for the battle brackets once things started, but not for the regular brackets before we saw their strength.
Phoenix vs Gordon was at least a coin toss.
Alucard/Dracula beating Frog/Magus was...certainly a surprise to me, anyway.

So...there were places for brackets to trip up, anyhow. In particular, I don't think many stat-heads took trainers over Samus and under Mario.

Speak for yourself. I had all of that perfect and thought that the trainers and Alucard, at least, were obvious

But then I missed a few one-point matches and had Sora > Squall <_<
