Dauntless Hunter 12/19/11 2:21:00 PM #10:	The story was dumb but I liked the gameplay apart from the pixel hunts, and those were very few in all honesty. I don't really mind delving into Samus's character and giving her more flaws and a backstory, but I think they could have benefited from Jennifer Hale's voice. She brought Samus to life in the Prime games and could have truly shined here. I'm not liking this voice actress at the start. I spend more time mashing A to skip text than I get to play the gameplay segments in between. At least Other M had a skip cutscene button so I can play a whole game of gameplay. Well, I won't say it's perfect, because of a certain area where you're forced to walk all over the place. Nonetheless, the game overall is nowhere near as painful as Fusion. Level-structure I'd easily disagree - not that Fusion is better, but that it's "much" better. The games are ridiculously similar as far as the levels go. However, I do love how Other M gave the ship holograms to create different types of landscapes other than Metroid Fusion's chambers of mechanical space ship. Even when you're in a mossy place in Fusion, it's you still feel like you're on a ship, whereas Other M uses holograms to transform its rooms into actual jungles, volcanoes, and snowy valleys. -- Happy birthday to the greatest user on the board, Biolizard28. Fusion and Super are too far buried in the memory banks for me to really rank, but I remember not being as impressed by Super as I was expecting based on its reputation. The other option is to make a Prime Hunters with a full robust Online mechanic for WiiU, A game that people will except as a spin off and enjoy it for what it is. It has potential to sell a lot more because it appeals to a wider demographic. Metroid has become more of niche title, but it still has a ton of fans. I stil think they missed a Trick with Prime 3. If that game was delayed for a year and came out with Full robust online it would have sold a hell of a lot more. Might have been more financially viable for Nintendo than spending money on Other M which according to vgchartz is one of the worst selling mainline metroid games http://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=MEtroid Shame. That pretty much never happens to Nintendo games, and the reason is simply bad word of mouth. Combine the very vocal backlash (and not just against the story...) and yeah, there goes an exciting new direction for the series. And I really liked that aspect of Other M. It married 2D and 3D Metroid game concepts together while also adding a whole new spin. The gameplay had some spectacular moments, and I enjoyed the broad strokes of the story (what killed it was the script). It also actually managed to PULL off the "cinematic" style of gameplay, managing to have a "playable movie" feel without taking away interactivity or choice. It had its fair share of flaws (which have been discussed ad nauseum) but nothing unfixable. What really killed its chances though, was the fans. Thee backlash this game got from the fandom was hilariously disproprtionate and undeserved, and that's the number one cause of poor sales.
